5.30pm top of Mount Ainslie

Departing 6.15pm down Mt Ainslie

About 7.30pm, Forecourt, Australian War Memorial

From about 8.30pm outside West Block, cnr of Anzac Parade and Constitution Avenue

The Elders welcome us. We hear laments and sing well-loved peace songs together. We also remember the terrible cost of war and how much we cherish peace. And we listen into the hope in the “Spirit Songs for Anzac Eve" that A Chorus of Women sing every year:People, hear the lawof the seeds in your lamentDark seeds in the fire humminglike a new song growing ...

We begin a lantern-lit procession down the mountain track. We walk in silence, carrying a light into the darkness of grief. Please note, the walk is only for the sure-footed and personal safety is each person's responsibility.Walkers are greeted with community singing at the bottom of the mountain in Remembrance Park before the procession across the road into the War Memorial grounds.

We share stories, poetry, singing and conversation all through the night around the campfire. Warming soup will be offered, and again after the Anzac Dawn Service next morning. Remember to BYO mug, rug and chair.

Within a circle of lantern light, we gather round the peace fire to lament the sorrows of war and express our yearnings for peace with personal storytelling, poetry and song.Around 8pm the lantern lit procession continues down Anzac Parade towards the West Block building.
