The Tri-City Regional Chamber Board, volunteers and staff are

focused on delivering value to our members. Every Chamber

strategy, program and service is created specifically to provide

positive results and bring credit to our region. Here’s a look into

recent activities, plans and results.

Over the last few months, our Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Counselor assisted small businesses in obtaining 102 government contracts totaling

$8,409,488!In partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, we are proud to host the 14th annual “Tri-Cities Day with the Seattle Seahawks” on October 29 when they play the Houston Texans.

During the month of July, the Chamber’s Facebook page had a total reach of 111,937 unique people who saw our posts!

We received 29 responses to the 2017 City Council Candidate Questionnaire for the Primary Election and currently accepting completed questionnaires from General Election candidates.

Meet the Buyer: Doing Business with the Hanford Primes & PNNL was attended by 60 small business people who gained valuable information about bidding on contracts.

Benton PUD and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Visionary level; Trios Health, Director level; HAPO Community Credit Union and Veolila, Corporate level; all recently renewed their memberships.

We received 50 applications for the Small Business

Incentive Program

DOING BUSINESS WITH WASHINGTON STATE AGENCIES

Wednesday, October 11

2017 Series Sponsor:

As summer winds down and kids are headed back to school, this is a great time for you to dive in and prepare for upcoming government contracting events, or to re-evaluate your current marketing materials and strategy.

A couple of key events are coming up this fall. In October, the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services will be the focus of Meet the Buyer, and just a week later the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District is holdings its annual Industry Day. I firmly believe that attending these types of events is essential to gathering information and building relationships needed to adequately position your company for contracting success.

In preparation for these, your company should develop excellent marketing materials, tailored to government buyers. At the federal level, the expectation is that you have a capability statement, and I’m happy to help you with this. I have a “Marketing to the Federal Government” workshop in October, or I’m happy to review that information with you at any time. In the government marketplace, your first impression is crucial, and you don’t want to go in unprepared!

Find details about all workshops and partner events at: washingtonptac.org. For free government contracting assistance, call or email me at: 509.491.3231 or [email protected].

Diversity & Inclusion A Strategic Priority for Success and Prosperity

There are few times in a person’s life that are truly momentous. Joining the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Community Inclusion and Outreach is one of those times for me. The same can be said for the TCRCC leadership when it decided to create such a consequential position and tasking its director with helping the region’s businesses prepare for the inevitable demographic and generational shifts predicted to influence how business will be conducted in 2025 and beyond. In fact, the Regional Chamber is the only chamber of commerce in Washington that has taken such a bold step and probably one of only a handful in the country. It is an awesome responsibility and it definitely fits the billing of momentous and consequential.

The Community Inclusion and Outreach Department’s main purpose is to ensure the Regional Chamber represents and impacts the Tri-Cities’ diverse business community. This can be accomplished through collaboration with other civic and economic minded institutions whose task is also to foment the social and economic vitality of our region. It will require strong partnerships with other chambers, economic development organizations, non-profits, local governments, educational institutions and community groups working together on a common vision.

As the Director of Community Inclusion and Outreach, I will play the leading role for the TCRCC in addressing opportunities and identifying gaps in resources within our diverse and growing business community. I will assist in the design of programing businesses will find relevant in the future and drive inclusionary initiatives to position the Regional Chamber as a key partner for all businesses.

I’m in the midst of creating a multi-year Diversity and Inclusion Plan for the Regional Chamber. It will be presented to our board of directors at an all-day retreat in September. We have our work cut out for us, but the talent at the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce is incomparable and the brain power in the Tri-Cities region is limitless, so yes, we are up to the task.
