No regrets. Going into my third year of college, this became the motto Icame to live byand I knew for the rest of my life I would have regrettednot taking advantage of the one experience I wanted so badly inmy college career; to study abroad.

The Ann Arbor Languages Partnership (A2LP)
offers an opportunity to University of Michigan
students and Ann Arbor community members to
teach Spanish to 3rd and 4th graders in
Ann Arbor Public Schools.
The program is a course that combines
intensive preparation in teaching Spanish at the
elementary level with extensive clinical
placements that are supported through
collaboration with the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
As the A2LP affects every 3rd and 4th grade
child in the entire district, the Partnership will
soon begin a study of this years experience
from the perspective of students with
language-related disabilities, including autism,
specific language impairment, and auditory
processing disorders. We hope to include the
views of the students themselves, their parents,
teachers, speech-language pathologists, and
Apprentice Teachers.
We welcome the participation of community
members in the Apprentice Teacher force.
This requires a certain degree of proficiency in
Spanish, comprehensive training, commitment
to teaching twice a week during the school year
and during school hours and attendance at
weekly seminars.
In the 2012-2013 school year, approximately 75
Apprentice Teachers are teaching all 3rd and
4th grade students in 20 schools across the
district. Classes are held in students regular
classrooms, with classroom teachers as
mentors.
