week 4 term 1 2021 newsletter
TRANSCRIPT
This week brings a wealth of activities for Rose Bay PS. Our primary students were excited to attend our annual swimming carnival today. On Friday we are also returning to PSSA inter-school competition after a long break due to COVID restrictions last year.
Tonight is the first of our Meet the Teacher evenings welcoming our new kinder parents on site. As there are strict guidelines around numbers attending this event, please make sure you have registered with Operoo. Enter the school by the assigned gate and use the digital sign-in procedure before entering the classrooms. We will have staff onsite to assist you.
Later in the term, we will hold one-to-one parent/teacher interviews. These interviews will be to report on your child’s wellbeing, individual progress and to give an indication of where to next for each child.

Anaphylaxis and Allergies Reminder
At Rose Bay Public School we have a number of students who have allergies that are life threatening and can result in anaphylaxis. Part of our risk management strategy is that students do not share their food with others at any time. All families are asked to support the children in our school who are anaphylactic by ensuring no nuts or nut products are brought in. By following these guidelines, we aim to provide a safe and happy environment for all our children and families.
At Rose Bay Public School all mobile phones are to be kept inside school bags and switched off during school hours. We understand that some students need to carry a mobile device for travel to or from school. However, it is important that students do not use these devices during school hours.
The procedures applying to the inappropriate use of mobile phones apply equally to the inappropriate use of tablets,
watches and similar devices.
We ask students not to use mobile phones or apple watches during school hours. We ask parents to support this procedure for the safety of all students. For information on our mobile phone policy go to:

‘The Fire Wombat’ by Jackie French and Danny Snell.
One of our latest editions to the school library. ‘The Fire Wombat’ is an uplifting narrative that outlines the generosity and kindness of others who came together to support our amazing Australian wildlife during the 2020 bush fires. In her usual style, Jackie French sets the scene with powerful descriptive language to demonstrate the impact of recent natural disasters on our land, wildlife and people. Danny Snell’s beautiful illustrations paint a picture of friendship, compassion and resilience.

We hope your children are settling in well to term 1 at RBPS. From what I hear it’s been a very smooth transition back to school. We are having a P&C meeting on Tuesday 2nd March at 7.00pm. If you would like to attend the meeting, please click on the below link to book in your attendance. Due to current Covid-19 government regulations, we can only have 30 people onsite at this meeting, so only people who book in through the below link will be able to attend.
https://www.trybooking.com/BOWOO
We will have sign in processes on the night to attend the meeting. In order to vote at P&C meetings, the P&C Federation requires you to be a financial member of the P&C. This is done through a gold coin donation. This year, these gold coin donations will need to be paid online into the Rose Bay Public School P&C account.
The bank details for your “gold coin donation” are below and please note your NAME in the description: Name: Rose Bay Public School P&C Association BSB: 062 236 Account: 1000 7160

P&C News COVID Advice for Families
The Dept of Education is continuing to work closely with the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), NSW Health and other agencies to ensure our schools continue to operate in the safest ways possible in the COVID-19 environment.
Advice for families: • Parents and carers are reminded NOT
to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms.
• NSW Health has requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics.
• Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school.
• Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test will not be permitted to return to school for a 10-day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school.
We are working to keep RBPS students as safe as we possibly can.

Rose Bay Secondary College’s motto of ‘Opportunity, Achievement, Community’ genuinely encapsulates my fantastic high school experience. The opportunity-rich environment of Rose Bay provided me and my peers with a multitude of both academic and extracurricular initiatives that went beyond the traditional schooling experience. These opportunities set the foundation of not only friendships, but a cohesive link between year-groups, students, and teachers, creating a welcoming
and inclusive environment. The school fostered a sense of pride and high expectations, allowing us to strive for our personal best and celebrating the diverse talents of all the students. The genuine care and companionship between the students and the incredibly supportive teachers created a community support and trust. The diverse opportunities Rose Bay offered me, the personal achievements I gained, and the amazing school community I was a part of will forever hold a place in my heart.
