2013 Results: The Cannons swept the season series against the Hounds 2-0 but only by a combined

three-goal margin.

All-Time Series: The Hounds are 0-5 all-time against the Cannons.

Last Meeting: The Cannons remain as the only MLL team the Hounds have never beaten in the MLL, getting outscored 81-51 in five games. When these teams met in Boston in Week 4, it was one of the

worst offensive performances the Hounds have had in their two and a half seasons. The team was only able to put up six goals on 16 shots. Meanwhile, the Cannons tallied 14 goals on 26 shots. Chris Eck

controlled the faceoff X, going 19-24, to help the Cannons build up an 8-3 lead by the half. When the Hounds did have possession, they made bad decisions with the ball. The game marked the return of goalie Adam Ghitelman, who showed some rust in allowing 13 goals on 25 shots for just a 48.0SV%.

Ghitelman didn’t get much help in front though, as the Hounds defenders poorly executed their slides. However, Ghitelman has been much improved since with an average 51.9SV% over the past four games. The Cannons’ offense was led by Paul Rabil, who posted six points on three goals and three assists. He

now leads the league with 40 points.

HOUNDS

After two straight wins at home against the Outlaws and Launch, the Hounds last week headed north to face the Lizards. The Hounds jumped out to an early

2-0 lead before the teams traded runs to wind up tied 6-6 with just over 7 minutes remaining in the half. But

with 25 seconds to go, Matt Danowski got a step ahead of his defender and scored a highlight-reel

worthy behind-the-back goal to give the Hounds a 7-6 advantage going into the break. The lead was short

lived though, as the Lizards came out shooting in the second half. A four-goal run in the fourth was just

enough edge the Hounds, who scored the final three tallies of the game.

Players To Watch

Mike Sawyer (A/M) – The sophomore player is averaging 2 points per game this season.

Ryan Flanagan (D) – The three-time MLL All-Star continues to lead the team with 35 groundballs.

Kevin Drew (M) – A player who doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet but can be a game changer on

the wing or in transition.

CANNONS

The Cannons last week returned to .500 with a thrilling 17-16 overtime victory against the Machine.

Will Manny scored the game winner just 1:47 into the extra period. It was his fifth goal of the night. The

game was back-and-forth from the beginning, with the Cannons holding a 2-goal lead going into the final

period. But the Machine put together a 4-goal run, including a 2-pointer, to tie the game with 1:12

remaining and force overtime. Though the Cannons put up 16 goals in the game, they only had six

different goal scorers. Meanwhile, Jordan Burke finished the game with a 51.7SV%.

Players To Watch

Kevin Buchanon (A) – He leads the team with 24 goals for an average of three per game this season.

Mitch Belisle (D) – The veteran has been a steady presence down low and ranks third on the team with

18 groundballs.

Ryan Boyle (A) – Three of his 14 points this season came against the Hounds in Week 4.

NOTEWORTHY – June 28, 2014

GET YOUR SHINE ON: The MLL All-Star Game will take place in Boston on Thursday, June 26.

Matt Danowski, Kevin Drew, Ryan Flanagan and Brett Schmidt will represent the Hounds in the game against the U.S. Men’s National Team. It will be Danowski’s fifth All-Star appearance,

Drew’s first, Flanagan’s third and Schmidt’s second.

LONELY ROAD: The Hounds have yet to win an away game this season, going 0-4 against the Launch, Outlaws, Cannons and Lizards. However, the Cannons are 1-3 and the road

themselves, with their only win coming against the Machine in Ohio.

MILESTONE MOMENTS: Matt Danowski last week recorded two goals, upping his all-time career total to 151 (including the postseason). The attackman is also just 5 assists away from

reaching 100.

GOAL DIFFERENTIALS: The Cannons have scored the second-most goals in the MLL at 102, while the Hounds have scored the second-fewest in the league with 84. Meanwhile, the

Cannons also have allowed the second-fewest goals – 89 – while the Hounds have allowed the most – 99.

KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE: Ryan Young enters Week 9 riding a 25-game streak of recording at

least one point, dating back to Aug. 11, 2012 (including the postseason).

BALL SO HARD: The Hounds have only collected 205 groundballs this season, the fewest in the league. The Cannons have recorded 232, good enough for second in the MLL.
