Week 9 Writing Lesson 4 - Thursday

VisualisingAn important part of reading and writing is being able to

make a picture in your head of things that are being described. You can make mental images that might change as you read or listen to a story. It’s a bit like playing a movie

in your head.

This is called visualising.

Page 31: Week 9 - Monday 6th September

Visualising

Listen to or read the description, and draw a picture to match.

My hair is as green as fresh grass. It is so long that it hangs all the way down my back. My bright blue eyes sparkle like

the ocean and my cheeks are round and rosey. The top half of me is human and the bottom half is a fish. My tail is

pink and scaly and I wear a purple top. I love swimming around the ocean being as gentle as a butterfly.

Visualising

If your picture looks something like this, you have done a wonderful job of visualising!

VisualisingListen to or read the description, and draw a

picture to match. I have short, curly, orange hair on top of my round head. My two,

bright eyes are wide and I have a nose as red as Rudolph the reindeer. White paint covers my mouth and my red, rosy cheeks

show my lovely smile. I am wearing a purple long sleeve shirt with red buttons down the front. My long blue trousers are held up by two green straps on my shoulders. I have stripey socks, red shoes

and white gloves on my hands. I am very cheerful and love to make people laugh by being silly.

have done a wonderful job of visualising!

Week 9 - Friday 10th September: Exploring Volume (9.6)

LEARNING INTENTION: We are learning to compare and order capacities by their volume.

Volume: the amount of space that an object takes up in its environment.

We can work out the volume of each of these boxes by filling each box with cubes and then comparing the number of cubes that each box can hold. Count together with the teacher.

Week 9 - Friday 10th September: Exploring Volume (9.6)

LEARNING INTENTION: We are learning to create objects with the same volume.

CHALLENGE: LAUNCH TASKTom use some blocks to design a building. How many different buildings can he construct that have the same volume?

SUCCESS CRITERIAMake a collection of blocksCount the blocksDesign a building using all the blocksRecord the design (photo or drawing)Create and record designs with the same volumeExplain how you know that they have the same volume.
