* * * * * * * * Formal Blessings

The new Parish Year is about to begin. All of our CATECHISTS will be blessed at all Masses on the weekend of September 18th (Catechetical Sunday). All our LITURGICAL MINISTERS (Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Cantors, Sacristans, etc.) will be blessed at all the Masses on the weekend of September 25th. We do this at the beginning of the Parish Year to help everyone understand that there are many parts to the Body of Christ and each has its responsibilities. More to come. * * * * * * * *

A Capital Campaign FOR US! The Archdiocese of New York, in an effort to improve the physical condition of all parishes (or pay off debts), is asking all pastors to unveil an Autumn Capital Campaign (similar to the one we ran in 2006).The local parish will retain 74% of their specified goal, with the rest going to support poor parishes (who cannot run such a campaign) and the regional schools. IMPORTANT: THERE WILL BE NO CARDINAL’S STEWARDSHIP APPEAL IN 2017. Therefore, as required, Monsignor Sandi is building a solid foundation of support among parishioners in anticipation of a parish-wide appeal beginning in September. Please pray for the enthusiasm we need to make this campaign successful.

Divine Murmurs Many Minds, Many Sources; Same God

Just as dwellers in iniquity pervert every good thing, to use weapons of wickedness, so lovers of virtue can adapt even bad things to act as material for true wisdom. Theodoret * * * * * * * *

Intense Temperatures No doubt you have noticed the debilitating heat in the church. [We are not thinking about it now but, as we all know, the same thing happens in the dead of winter with the cold.] There is a genuine need for stabilizing the temperature in our “sacred space.” Various parts of the historic, physical structure of the building suffer in intense heat and intense cold. We have both. Additionally, many parishioners choose to attend neighboring churches during the summer months. We feel very bad. Something to think about. More to come. * * * * * * * *

Calling All Lectors! Save the Date!

Monsignor and Stephanie Miller, Lector Chair, would like to meet in the rectory parlor with all our Lectors on Wednesday evening, September 7th at 7:00 PM to pray, update and encourage one another. This ministry is critical to our parish and we would like to affirm these men and women who are so dependable. Makeup date is Sunday, Sept. 11th, 4:00 PM in the rectory. * * * * * * * *

Fr. Mariano Perron Our summer visitor will be with us till September 7th. He is always a welcome visitor in our midst. * * * * * * * * The Holy Trinity Contemporary Ensemble

Our Contemporary Choir, which sings and plays at Holy Trinity’s Sunday 5:30 Mass, is looking for NEW MEMBERS. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact the Rectory or speak with one of the members at the end of Mass. The Contemporary Choir has long been part of the attraction of many of the younger parishioners to the 5:30 Mass. * * * * * * * *

CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA) The Road to Becoming a Catholic

Do you know someone who considers the Christian faith important, someone attends church regularly, but who has never been baptized? Maybe this someone was

baptized in another Christian tradition and wishes to become a Catholic … that someone may be YOU… Please contact Gary Cushing at 212-787-0634. Gary will contact you.

Sophia, ChurchMouse

[Rumor has it that our ChurchMouse will be returning to this space after Labor Day. We always look forward to reading about the quiet, and often unnoticed, kindnesses our fellow parishioners do for one another and our Church family. What a parish!]

+ Holy Trinity – 10 Years Ago +

“from the archives!” This Week Today we welcome John Balbi, Principal of Corpus Christi School, who will speak at each of the Masses about the School and Holy Trinity’s involvement with the Adopt-a-School program. We had initiated this last year under the Social Outreach branch of our Parish Council. Your quick and enthusiastic response and the glowing success at the School assured us that we should continue the program. As part of its Centennial Celebration, Corpus Christi has invited all the parishes of the West Side Vicariate to attend Vespers today at 4:00 PM, with a member from each parish in procession. Representing Holy Trinity will be Molly McEneny, who is, appropriately, a member of both our Parish Council and our Adopt-a-School program. POSADA! Holy Trinity will hold its annual Christmas Posada next Sunday, December 10th at 3:30 PM. The Posada is a Mexican tradition featuring a procession led by Mary and Joseph through the neighborhood of our parish. All are welcome. Please gather at 3:15 at Summit Rock in Central Park, which is located just north of the Diana Ross Playground near the 81st St. entrance. The procession will begin promptly at 3:30. After finishing at Holy Trinity, all those interested (and hungry!) will have a Mexican dinner at La Cocina, 217 W. 85th St. Please contact Kevin McKenna. Deck the Halls! The Comunidad Latina will clean the church for Christmas Wednesday, December 13th from 6:00 PM on. We will be decorating the Church for Christmas on Saturday Dec. 23rd, starting at 10:00 AM. Helpers are needed! If you would like to participate, please contact the Rectory! Musica Trinitatis presents The Russian Chamber Chorus of New York Nikolai Kachanov, Artistic Director Jewels of Russian Liturgical Music Including works of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and others Wednesday, December 6th, 8:00 PM Tickets: Gen. Adm.: $25, Students/senior $15 (12/03/06)

(Mt 11, 29).
