Dear Parishioners,

Thankful for God’s Blessings and your

continued generosity, I share with you

our annual Financial Report on the

income and expenses of our parish. I

am grateful to Pauline Kowalski, our

bookkeeper, Kimm Bunch, our Financial

Chairperson, our Finance Commission,

and all of you for your financial

support.

The good news is that our parish

ended the last fiscal year with a net

profit of $142,982.70. This was

largely due to bequests, gifts,

Memorials, Church Preservation

Donations, and Gifts which totaled

$83,148.00 as well as $77,335.45 in

investment income.

Our Mass attendance and our regular

offertory collection were low. Our

offertory collection was down

$22,667.51 from the previous year.

This year’s offertory collection was

$167,668.51. With this in mind, I

would like to take the opportunity to

encourage all of you to make a safe

return to our parish church by

resuming the practice of regular Mass

attendance at either our 4:00 p.m.

Vigil Mass on Saturday or our 10:00

a.m. Mass on Sunday. We observe all

the safety protocols. During this

time, Bishop Malesic is recommending

that we wear masks to prevent the

spread of the virus. It is a

recommendation, not a requirement.

We miss seeing you at Mass and we

would love to see you again.

The Bishop is asking every parish to

participate in an offertory renewal

program. We will be doing this during

the weekends of October 2nd and 3rd

and October 9th and 10th. As we saw

the interior restoration of our church

building with scaffolding, replastering,

and repainting, this gave birth to an

insight, namely: We Are Called To

Build Church Together. Two simple

ways to do this are through regular

Mass attendance and increasing our

offertory contributions.

Incidentally, why not come back to our

church to see the newly renovated

church building? The total cost of

the job was $131,649.29. Diocesan

Insurance paid for most of it. We will

be paying $13,000.00. Our Church

building looks great on the inside!

Page 4: Weekday Masses Temporarily COVID-19 4:00 P.M. VIGIL

Come back to see what our church

looks like.

We still have many challenges in

keeping up our facilities since we have

four aging buildings. We recently

made $27,000.00 of capital

improvements to our convent

(kindergarten building), our rectory,

and our property. We have an

upcoming inspection of our church

façade, hope to put in a new garage

doors, and hope to return to the

initiative of “Light up the Lord’s

House,” with more exterior lighting.

Your financial support enables us to

have 31 active ministries. Because of

you we are building church together in

Christ, through Word, Sacrament,

Community Witness, and Service.

Your support of our Parish St. Vincent

de Paul Society enables us to reach

out to the poor and unfortunate in our

neighborhood and parish.

Please continue your generous

support. We appreciate all forms of

giving. To date, 53 households are

giving online. If you wish to choose

this option, please go to our parish

website at www.st-john-

nepomucene.org and click on the

“Online Giving” link. We are grateful

if you still wish to contribute through

your church envelopes as well. You

can place your envelopes in the

collection baskets at Mass or mail in

your envelopes or drop them off at

the rectory in the mailbox near the

rectory door.

If you are not receiving envelopes or

would like assistance in giving online,

please call our office manager, Sandy

Yody at 216-641-8444 x 10. She will

be happy to assist you.

For those unable to come to church,

we continue to livestream the 10:00

a.m. Mass on our parish website and on

Facebook.

Let us Build Church Together. Let us

continue to pray for one another.

Gratefully,

Father Jasany

Blanket Sunday !

The weekend of October 9-10 marks the 35th Annual Blanket Sunday Collection. This collection is sponsored by the Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Due to sanitary concerns and lack of storage space, we will gratefully accept your financial donation and the shopping for you, making your money go even further with bulk purchase of blankets and other items needed by the homeless and disadvantaged. So please “blanket” someone for the winter and give yourself a warm feeling.

model. Please call Judy Lasecki at 216-641-8444 ext 29 for more

details and to register.

“Building Church Together” Program

Over the next few weeks, you will be

hearing about our upcoming renewal

program “Building Church Together”.

This effort continues to be very

important as we move forward with

the mission and vision of St. John

Nepomucene Church. We, as a parish

family, have changed so many lives in

our community! In order to continue

our mission and ministries, we

encourage all parishioners to spend

time in prayer and discussion with

your family reflecting on the work we

do. Our special Commitment

Weekend will be celebrated on

October 9 & 10. If you have any

questions regarding the “Building

Church Together” Program, please feel

free to contact the parish office.

NEW DATE! Walking the Sacred Path.

Sunday, October 3 from 2:00pm - 8:00pm.

As we mark the turn of the seasons with the

autumnal equinox, we invite you to come

pray and meditate as you walk our

(temporary) labyrinth in the JRC meadow.

Our labyrinth is modelled on the one

embedded in the floor of the Chartes

Cathedral in France. While ancient in origin,

walking and praying the labyrinth became

popular for Christians in the Middle Ages

when it was difficult or dangerous to go on

pilgrimage. A labyrinth walk can represent a

life journey, a pilgrimage to a sacred place,

or a prayer path that leads us to God. Cost:
