• Happy Mother’s Day. We want to honor our Moms today. The songs that we will sing have been selected by some of our Moms. We will use their favorite songs to honor Moms and worship our Lord.

Women in the Life and Teachings of Jesus

• Exodus 20:12 – “Honor your father and your mother” NASU

• Mark 16:9 - “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he

appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.”

Jesus Demonstrated the High Value He Placed on Women by Recognizing Their Value as Persons

• Matthew 19:4-5 - 4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5 and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'?

Genesis 1:27- 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of

God He created him; male and female He created them. NASU

• Matthew 9:20-22 - 20 And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; 21 for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will get well." 22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." At once the woman was made well. NASU

He showed women’s value as persons in the

way He held them responsible for their sins.

He showed a woman’s value in His treatment of divorce and lust.

• Matthew 5:27-29 - 27 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. NASU

• First, Jesus frequently used women in His illustrations.

• Second, He was also concerned that women sit under His teachings.

• The third way Jesus accorded women dignity was by engaging them in their very own places of ministry.
