Finance and Budgets on CUWeb
What is CUWeb?
Like the formerly known Web for Students or Web for Faculty, it is a web self-service unit that links to Banner for Finance and Budget data
How will it help me?
CUWeb Finance and Budgets will allow you to query your current budget information for real-time data at any point in time
What are its benefits?
Real-time data – no waiting for paper reports Access via the web – anytime, anywhere Use Clark credentials rather than Banner credentials Mac users will have access Easier to drill down to detail level Downloads to Excel are easy and intuitive Uses the current Banner FUND/ORG security Has the ability to build templates – only build your
report once
How Does it Work?Logging In
Use the following URL to open CUWeb:cuweb.clarku.edu
Use your Clark username and Password to login
Menu
When you log into CUWeb, you will see a menu system with all the things that you have access to
You will see items in your Main Menu that you have privileges to in Banner
Click on the link for Finance and Budgets
Click Budget Queries to get started
Budget Queries
There are 3 types of Budget Queries you can create: Budget Status by
Account (we will focus on this today)
Budget Status by Organizational Hierarchy
Budget Quick Query
Click Create Query
Enter Parameters Choose from the following
parameters (we suggest at least Adjusted Budget, Year to Date and Available Balance) Adopted Budget Budget Adjustment Adjusted Budget Temporary Budget Accounted Budget Year to Date Available Balance
Click Continue
Query Choices Must enter a value in either the
Organization or Grant fields as well as the Fiscal Year, Period, and Chart of Accounts
If Grant information is queried, all retrieved information is Grant Inception to Date. Otherwise, all information retrieved is through the Fiscal Year to Date
You can do comparisons to other Fiscal Years
In Production CUWeb, Chart of Accounts will be pre-filled in and Fiscal Periods will have months attached to them
Like Banner, you can choose to include Revenue Accounts if you like
Click Submit Query
Budget Summary Report
This will look similar to FGIBDST
If you choose to compare FY, you will have additional columns
Only 15 Accounts show on the page at any one time – hit Next 15 button to see more
You can drill down to get more detail in your Year to Date columns
Downloading Summary Data to Excel Download All Ledger
Columns will include all budget types (adjusted, temporary, etc.)
Download Selected Ledger Columns will only include columns you selected from Enter Parameters slide
Excel will open in a pop-up window – make SURE to hit the BACK button – if you close Excel, it will log you out of CUWeb
Can save spreadsheet for later use
Drilling Down to Detail
Like the Transaction Detail feature in Banner
More opportunities to drill down to document detail
Download button will extract to Excel
Detail Transaction Report
You will only see details for the org(s) that you have privileges to
Only 15 transactions per page
Ability to drill down to document detail by clicking on document number
View Document Detail
This is where the commodity information will be displayed
Vendor address will also appear here
Creating a Template

Retrieving a Template
By clicking on the drop-down arrow in Retrieve Existing Query box and choosing your query
