U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsParallel Lines o Lines that never intersect or cross. o Symbol for parallel lines is || o A solid arrow placed on two lines of a diagram indicates
that the lines are parallel.

U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsTransversal o A line that intersects two or more lines in the same
plane at different points.
Today we are studying the different angles formed by the transversal and the parallel lines.

U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsLabel the top of the front of your foldables the following:
Corresponding Angles Alternate Interior Angles Alternate Exterior Angles Same-Side Interior Angles
On the top portion we will put diagrams and on the bottom
portion we will put words. Questions?
In the box to the far left, label the outside Deginition.
U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsCorresponding Angles o Angles in the same position. o Lie on the same side of the transversal t and on the same
side as r and s. o ∠1 and ∠5
Ø What are the other corresponding angles in the
diagram?
U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsAlternate Interior Angles o Non-adjacent angles that lie opposite of the transversal
and lie between r and s. o ∠4 and ∠5
Ø What are the other alternate interior angles in the diagram?
U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsAlternate Exterior Angles o Lie on opposite sides of transversal t and lie outside of r
and s. o ∠2 and ∠7
Ø What are the other alternate exterior angles in the
diagram?
U1A7–ParallelLinesandAngleRelationshipsSame-Side Interior Angles o Lie on the same-side as transversal t between lines r and
s. o ∠4 and ∠6
Ø What are the other same-side interior angles in the
diagram?

AroundtheWorldContinue in your notes for Around the World. I have posted around the room 6 questions on pink paper. You will go the question closest to your desks and copy down the problem into your notebook. Then you will answer the question. Once you get a solution you will go look around at the other pink papers and at the bottom of one of the papers should be your solution. That is the next problem you will attempt. If you are successful, you should go to each question and end up at the question you started at.
AroundtheWorldYou may work with others, but if you are standing instead of talking you will owe me time after class.
This is practice time NOT talk time.
This is your chance to ask me or others specigic questions on what you did wrong such that you can do well on your quiz Friday J
