Community Support

They say it takes a village to raise a child. As a school community, where possible, it is

important we support each other, especially when we fall on hard times. We have many

families that are facing hardships, whether it be stable housing, financial stress, significant

health issues and many other impacts. At our P&C meeting last night we discussed how, as a

community we can support others in need, knowing we could also reach out for help ourselves

if needed.

If you are able to support others in any way, whether it be a donation of a home cooked meal,

helping with yard work or house cleaning or even a load or two of laundry, please let Julie

Hemmett know: [email protected]

If you are in need of a helping hand, you can also contact Julie or myself at the school office.

School Opinion Survey

School opinion survey access sheets were sent home last week. This is an opportunity to

provide feedback on a broad range of areas within the school – things were are doing well and

areas for improvement. As always, if you would like to address individual concerns or provide

specific feedback, please contact the office to make an appointment. We are always looking at

ways we can improve and service our community for the better. If yours didn’t make it home or

you require a new sheet, please come and see us in the office.

Book Week 2019

Coming up next week we celebrate Book Week ‘Reading is my Secret Power’. We will have a

special parade on Friday 23rd August, where students are encouraged to dress up as their

favourite character from a

book and show off their

costumes.

Have a wonderful week!

PRIME LEARNING TIME

Between 8:45am and 10:45am we observe prime learning time – therefore it is imperative that children arrive on time and ready to start lessons. During this period no interruptions to learning are permitted. Children will remain in class (NO MESSAGES). Teachers and students are to be fully organised before, so that all resources are available and visits to the Office are not necessary. The purpose of quality learning time is to enhance the learning outcomes for all students.

Teachers at our school understand the need to cater to the full range of learning styles, to maximise the potential of multiple intelligences and to ensure the curriculum content meets the learning needs, interests and developmental level of each child. Quality Learning Time is best utilised through a diverse and engaging range of teaching practices.

The Country Fair is this Saturday 17th August. Volunteer rosters are attached to the Newsletter again this week. From our fantastic school of over 240 families, only 20 have

so far put their hands up to help on the night. Please consider the benefits your child receives from the school’s fundraising efforts, and volunteer even an hour of your time to

assist the school community make this year’s Country Fair another big success. Many hands make light work, and it is always a most enjoyable night for everyone.

We look forward to hearing from you!
