The music and message are carefully crafted to deepen your faith. Today can be the first or next step in your journey toward heaven.

KEEPING SCORE

Baseball purists often delight in keeping detailed scorecards. So do many Chris-tians — often unknowingly. Do you give yourself “credit” for your years in the faith? for the number of services or studies you attend? for the good deeds you perform? for the Bible verses and creeds you know by heart?

In Philippians 3:4-6, Paul recites his impressive scorecard, yet despite those credentials, he couldn’t earn God’s favor. Neither can we. Our tallies are all “loss” (v. 7) when compared to the right-eousness that comes through faith in Christ (v. 9).

Attending church, serving and memorizing Scripture are good things. But we do them not to get right with God but because we are right with God — through Jesus.

9am to 11am Have you had your annual flu shot yet? Once again, Walgreens Pharmacy will be

here at the church from 9am to 11am on Wed, September 26th . Plan to drop by and get your annual flu shot. Bring your insurance card and they will take care of the rest. If you need a Shingles Shot they will have them available too. They will have some flu shots at no cost if you are unin-sured.

Volunteer Nursery substitute attendants

needed. If you love playing with babies and toddlers, there is a ministry just waiting

for you. Our nursery needs volunteers who would be willing to fill in if one of our regular nursery attendants are not able to work on a given Sunday. The nursery is open on Sunday mornings between the hours of 8:15 and 11:00 and must have two background checked attendants with the children at all times. If you would be able help with this ministry as a volunteer substitute nursery attendant, it would be much appreciated. Please call the church office for more information.

Are you interested in learning to play bells? Here’s your chance! Joanne Kelly will be holding a class for new bell ringers on September 12th at 5pm. It’s a lot of fun and great fellowship!

STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING PROGRAM

“We’re Excited!” Our congregation’s Stephen Leaders are ready to launch a new 50 hour training class for Stephen Ministers beginning the end of October or early November. Have you thought that perhaps you would like to partici-pate in this ministry?

Plant the Seed: Stephen Ministry is our congregation’s one-to-one care giving ministry. God works through Stephen Ministers to plant a seed of hope and healing in a person whose life seems barren and forlorn because of some crisis or tragedy.

Water the Seed: Stephen Ministry training will equip you, and our congregation will support you, so that you can show God’s mercy, care, and compassion to another who is hurting. You will walk beside your care receiver, pray for him or her, and help him or her work through life’s difficulties.

God Will Make it Grow: Through this ministry God will bring forth new life and renewed faith in both your care receiv-er and in you as a Stephen Minister.

If you want to find out more about this one to one crisis ministry, please contact: David Viall at 727-819-1139, Tom Meier at 727-862 0226, Yvonne Noel at 727-863-5118 or Paulette Wetmore at 727-808-6076.

There will be a sign up sheet in the lobby on Sunday mornings or the church office during the week.
