Happy New Year! And a blessed Epiphany Sunday and season! We have come to worship the King, just as the wise men did so long ago. Welcome!
If you are a first-time guest, we would like to get more acquainted and minister to you more effectively. Please take a “Guest Information” card from the chair back pocket, complete both sides and place in the offering plate. At the conclusion of the service, please stop by the Welcome Center desk to receive a Thank You gift for visiting with us. It is our prayer that you will be blessed by today’s worship.

We are partnering with New Haven Elementary to serve the staff and impact the students. We have met with school officials to find how we can serve the staff and we were informed of a few of their needs.
Ways of service include: mentoring, reading to the students, assisting with groups, assisting the teachers, and more. We are exploring other ways to help the staff. Volunteers are needed to step into this ministry partnership. You can serve based on your availability. Suggested time is one hour per week till the end of the school year. Please pray for this new Ministry experience. All volunteers are required to have a background check. If you have one through UBC you can use it, or you can go directly through New Haven for a minimal fee. Our initial goal is to signup 10 volunteers but there is no limit to the number of volunteers we can have. If you wish to sign up please see Pastor Mark.

Every January, many Christians resolve to read the entire Bible in one year. That’s a
worthy goal, but God doesn’t require us to read a certain number of verses or
chapters per day. Instead, he tells us to simply be in his Word — and thus be with
him — so he can grow our faith, light our path and assure us of his love and
forgiveness. God’s Word is a precious gift, but we need to “unwrap” it!
F.B. Meyer offers this helpful advice for a new year of discovering (and
rediscovering!) Scripture: “Read the Bible, not as a newspaper, but as a home letter.
If a cluster of heavenly fruit hangs within reach, gather it. If a promise lies upon the
page as a blank check, cash it. If a prayer is recorded, appropriate it and launch it as a
feathered arrow from the bow of your desire. If an example of holiness gleams before
you, ask God to do as much for you. If the truth is revealed … entreat that its
brilliance may ever irradiate … your life.” -copied
Epiphany Wonder…..Today the Magi gaze in deep wonder at what they
see: heaven on earth, earth in heaven, humanity in God, God in humanity, one whom the whole universe cannot contain now enclosed in a tiny body. As they look ..... their symbolic gifts bear witness: incense for God, gold for a king, myrrh for one who is to die.

God’s Plan for Your Life Are you certain you have eternal life and will go to Heaven when you die? What would you say if you were standing before God right now and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My Heaven?” God’s Purpose: God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. The Bible says it this way: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) Our Need: As we search for meaning in life, we discover that our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. We are all sinners by nature and by choice. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) God’s Provision: God is holy and just and must punish sin. Yet He loves us and provides forgiveness for our sin. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6) Our Response: The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to receive Him. We must surrender to Jesus as Lord. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” (Rom. 10:9-10) My Commitment: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me. I turn from my sins, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I want to live for You the rest of my life. Amen.”
