The Linked Parishes of St. CharlesSt. Ann and St. Patrick and St. Brigid
Welcome, St. Patrick and
St. Brigid’s Parishioners!
May you feel at home here!
February 9, 2020
Lord, Jesus Christ, we have come together in Your
name to work for the good of our parishes.
Stay with us with Your invisible presence and pour
out the gifts of your spirit on us.
Make us work in a spirit of trust and love, as well as
a spirit of prudence and understanding so that we
may experience an abundance of light, compassion
and peace.
Let harmony reign ever among us and let us keep
our eyes ever fixed upon you.
Enable us to implement your known will for us no
matter what difficulty it may entail.

taxes this year, please contact Terri Condon at
[email protected] and she will mail a statement out to you.
Thank you !
The St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s Food Pantry
Located at 1331 W. Fayette St. open every Monday and Tuesday 9:30-12 . We will continue to accept donations here
and at both St. Charles and St. Ann’s Church and will be happy to deliver any items left in the food baskets to the
Pantry. We are always in need of dry goods and toiletries: paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, bar
soap, and shampoo

to St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s
*If you are a registered parishioner and receive weekly envelopes
you can place them in the collection basket at either church.
*If you are someone who puts cash in the collection basket and would
like to make sure your donation is sent to St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s
please use the envelopes that are addressed to St. Patrick’s located in
several spots throughout St. Charles and St. Ann’s church
* We now also offer Electronic Giving. How to create your online
account

Care packages for College Students:
We will be sending out care packages to our students who are away
at college. If you have a son or daughter who is away at college
please contact either rectory with their name and address so we can
send them one. If anyone would like to donate to these packages we
could use the following: individual wrapped cookies, microwave
popcorn, granola bars, candy, chips, cliff bars, pretzels, trail mix,
triscuits and ramen noodles. There will be a green bin at each
church for you to leave your donations in. We would like to have
everything in by Sunday February 23, 2020.

God reveals himself to us through the Bible. We come to know Him
and ourselves better when we study the Word. Sr. Brigid O’Mahony
breaks open the meaning of Scripture and how we can apply it to our
lives. Our next meeting will be February 15th, 2020 from 9-11am.
We’d love to have you join us!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners of our
Linked Parishes, we were able to donate $400
each to the four inner city Catholic Food Pantries:
St. Patrick and St. Brigid, Assumption, St. Lucy’s
and Cathedral Food Pantry.
This money will really help to put food and toilet-
ries into the hands of our needy brothers and sis-
ters in the City of Syracuse. Much thanks to our
young YIM members who volunteered to collect
the funds and especially thanks to all of you who
helped us put a new
meaning to “Souper Bowl
Sunday”!

St. Charles-St. Ann Food Pantry
Our shelves are bare! Most needed items: sauce, pasta, small jellies, canned fruit, crackers, peanut butter,
cereal, tuna, mac and cheese, hot cocoa. Non food items: dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, laundry soap, tissues and paper
towels. We could use reusable bags for groceries, now that the plastic bags are not being used.
Respect Life
207 members of Congress say Roe is ‘unworkable’. Ahead of the
Supreme Court’s March 4 oral arguments in Gee v. June Medical
Services, LLC, more than 200 members of Congress– 39 senators and
168 House members– signed an amicus brief in support of Louisiana’s
law that regulates surgical abortion clinics. The brief also claims that
the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and the ruling in Planned Parenthood v.
Casey, which says states cannot put “undue burdens” on abortion
access, are currently unworkable as states try to regulate the
abortion industry. As we await the Supreme Court’s decision on the
Louisiana case, we applaud these lawmakers for standing up not only
for the lives of the unborn, but also for standing up
to the abortion industry that continues to ignore
the safety of women.

A Message from Bishop Douglas Lucia
“On March 28, 2020, I will have the privilege of joining with nearly 1,000
Catholic men from around Central New York and beyond for the Twelfth
Annual Ignite Catholic Men’s Conference, my first as the Bishop of
Syracuse.
I look forward to kicking off the day by celebrating Mass with you and
then joining with you for inspirational talks from our speakers. I am
thrilled to welcome Steve Ray back to IGNITE, and we are blessed to be
joined by NFL quarterback Chris Greison, and Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P.,
Dean of the Dominican House of Studies. As usual, we will also have
time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Prayer before the Blessed
Sacrament as we seek to “Take Refuge in the Lord.”
See you on March 28th!”
— Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia
For your planning purposes….
Our Lenten Journey begins on Ash Wednesday (February 26) with
Mass at Noon at St. Charles and Mass at 5:30pm at St. Ann’s.
The annual Soup Supper will be immediately following the 5:30pm Mass
in the cafeteria at St. Ann’s. We will need our wonderful cooks to
come forward with their meatless soups. Bread and drinks will be
provided. There are sign up sheets in the gathering space if you are
able to make a soup, or if you would like to join. All are most welcome!
Stations of the Cross will be each Friday evening at 6pm from
February 28th through April 3rd at St. Ann’s.
Our Lenten Commitment this year will again be the Baby Bottle
Boomerang to benefit Joseph’s House. Bottles will be available the
weekend before Ash Wednesday, and we request that they be returned
by Palm Sunday. Thank you!
Thank you so much for all that you do for us at McKinley-Brighton.
Fridays are our Backpack Blessings distribution day and we wanted to
send on some photos! Please share with your church
community and pass on our sincere appreciation for their
support.! Thank you again
