Parish News & Events Let us pray for those members of our parish who are sick and suffering

Let us pray for those members of our parish who are sick and suffering. If you would like a visit from Fr. Patrick, please call the parish office at 630-851-1436 to schedule a visit.

Our parish has joined a Catholic website called FORMED. This website is loaded with articles, videos, eBooks, and much more—all of which are thoroughly Catholic. You simply go to this website: https://formed.org (This is a secure site, which is why there is an “s” in the address). Once there, there will be a spot to enter our parish access code, which is 6MMWKC. We have unlimited access to everything on the site. I hope that you take advantage of this site, and pray that it will be beneficial to you. Fr. Patrick

Pastor’s Letter

Dear Brothers and Sisters, This weekend at the 5:15pm Mass we will celebrate the Rite of Sending for Election. With our Catechumen: Jaime Sanchez and the Rite of Sending for

the Call to Continuing Conversion, with our baptized candidates who are: Jeff Martin, Lexie James, and Dianna Paprocki. We have been praying for them and in recent weeks we have discerned their readiness for the initiation sacraments this Easter. We celebrate what God has done and is doing in them. It is the fruit of God’s action that we see. It gives evidence that they are truly chosen by God for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to celebrate the gifts God is giv-ing to these men and women. On Saturday, February 17, Jaime, Jeff, Lexie and Dianna will attend the Rite of Election at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rockford. The catechumens publicly express their desire for baptism to the diocesan bishop. Their names are recorded in a book and they are called “the elect.”

Please consult the bulletin for deadlines, if you would like something in the bulletin. The usual deadline for things in the bulletin is MONDAY, BY NOON, unless otherwise stated. Please send the item/article that you would like to see in the bulletin to Mary at [email protected] or [email protected]. If it is a document, please make sure that it is created in Word. If it is a pic-ture, please make sure that it is in black and white. Also, if you would like something announced at any or all of the weekend Masses, please email Mary at [email protected], or [email protected], no later than WEDNESDAY EVENING, BY 4:00PM. If you would like both an announcement and a bulletin item/article, please send two separate emails, one for the announcement, one for the bulletin item/article.

Rediscovering Your Catholic Faith From the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church The Sixth Commandment: You Shall Not Com-mit Adultery 501. What can spouses do when they do not have children? Should the gift of a child not be given to them, after exhausting all legitimate medical options, spouses can show their generosity by way of foster care or adoption or by performing meaningful services for others. In this way they realize a precious spiritual fruitfulness. 502. What are the offenses against the dignity of marriage? These are: adultery, divorce, polygamy, incest, free unions (cohabitation, concubinage), and sexual acts before or outside of marriage. The Seventh Commandment: You Shall Not Steal 503. What is set forth by the seventh command-ment? The seventh commandment requires respect for the universal destination and distribution of goods and the private ownership of them, as well as respect for persons, their property, and the integrity of crea-tion. The Church also finds in this Commandment the basis for her social doctrine which involves the correct way of acting in economic, social and politi-cal life, the right and duty of human labor, justice and solidarity among nations, and love for the poor. 504. Under what conditions does the right to pri-vate property exist? The right to private property exists provided the property is acquired or received in a just way and that universal destination of goods for the satisfac-tion of the basic needs of all takes precedence.

School News Catholic Schools Week 2018 was a great success! It was a great opportunity to celebrate the spirit of Annunciation School and our students and staff enjoyed a fun week of activities. One of the highlights was the assembly on Thursday which showcased the Chicago Boyz Acrobatics Team. The students were in awe of their amazing jump rope tricks and acrobatic stunts. The faculty versus student volleyball game on Friday was also a big hit with the children. All the grades from 2nd-8th participated in the volleyball fun. Also on Friday, the 8th graders helped their preschool buddies with their Winter Olympic Games. The Preschoolers competed in a torch race, bobsled event, and speed skating. Everyone was a gold medal winner! Thank you to our Home & School Association for sponsoring Catholic Schools Week!
