Welcome to our Church

1 Thessalonians 5:8: But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

Rooted in the Living Word Empowered by the Holy Spirit Abiding in Christ only Daring to Hope and to Love Yielding Fruit To God’s Glory

This is the final prophecy in the book of Daniel, and, like the third one, came in the form of words rather than images. It begins with

a detailed account of war between two of the four kingdoms that resulted from the breakup of Alexander the Great’s mighty empire

– the Seleucid (north) and the Ptolemic (south) empires. Near the end of this period Antiochus IV (Epiphanes) appears. The vision

then shifts to a time beyond this, bringing us into the events of the last days and the final triumph of the people of God.

I. Prophecy already become history – Dan. 11:2-35

The details given in this section were so accurately fulfilled in history that liberal commentators think they were written

after the events occurred. However God has declared “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times what

is still to come.” (Isa. 46:10)

II. Prophecy still to be fulfilled – Dan. 11:36-45

God makes known in advance what will happen to his people when Antiochus IV appears, but the prophecy stretches be-

yond Antiochus to the appearance of the antichrist in the last days before Christ’s coming. These events are still to come.

III. The Final Triumph of God’s People – Dan. 12:1-13

God’s people will suffer for a period of time, but then the end will come with the resurrection of every human being, some

to everlasting life and others to shame and everlasting contempt.

IV. Living in the Shadow of the End Times – Dan. 8:27, 10:12, 12:9-10

How then should we live who belong to Christ? What should be our attitude towards the signs of the times? Jesus tells us,

“Watch out that no one deceives you. … Be on guard! Be alert!” (Mark 13:5, 36)

Sermon Series: Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to Stand Alone We live in rapidly changing and challenging times. New norms & rules have made it difficult to discern right from wrong. On the other hand, vio-lence perpetrated in the name of extreme religion has become a normal pattern. It is a fright-ening world & a reminder that

the end of the world is perhaps not very far away. In such a perplexing time the lives of Daniel & his friends remind us that Christians are the bearers of a counter-cultural message & life-style. Do we dare to be a Daniel, & so bear testimony to the presence of another kingdom, one which will be ultimately victorious, God’s kingdom of light & love?

Children's Dedication on Sun 30 Oct at 10am Service The dedication of each child, by one or both parents, is done during a church service, in the presence of God, and affirmed by the congrega-tion. While BFEC does not practice infant baptism, we encourage all members to "dedicate" their new-born to the Lord in our church. This also extends to parents who have recently become born-again Christians and who now wish to dedicate their children too. Parents dedicating their child to our Lord not only seek God’s blessings and guidance in the upbringing of their child but also the loving accountability and fellowship of church members. Application forms are available in the church office. Closing date to sign up: TODAY (23 October)

Discipleship@Home 4-part sermon series (30 Oct - 20 Nov) 3 in 5 Christian couples never read the Bible together. 1 in 4 Christian parents never prayed with their children. 27% Christians viewed pornography recently. These are current figures from The Whole Life Inventory by Focus on the Family conducted amongst marrieds, singles, seniors and youth in Singapore churches. Our challenge: what will it take to nurture believers, especially on the home-front where impact is greatest? The term “The Whole Life ap-proach to discipleship” sees believers mentored through all seasons of life in the pillars of Faith, Identity, Relationships, Sexuality and Values. As each speaker shares from the Word and from the Inventory findings, let us together take stock as individuals, homes, and as a church.
