JOB OPPORTUNITY
POSITION: Part time Algonquin Immersion Classroom Assistant LOCATION: Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan TERM: January 2018– June 2018 Part time 3 hours per day
Possibility of extension, depending on classroom needs and funding availability.
SALARY: As per the Kitigan Zibi Salary Scale and Employee Qualifications Certified Educational Assistant ($16.23 per hour) Non-Certified Educational Assistant ($12.98 per hour) PREAMBLE: The position will begin in January 2018. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with all necessary duties within the classroom, working one-on-one or with small groups of students, substituting for teachers and carrying out any necessary supervision within the Algonquin Immersion program. If you are interested in applying for this position and are able to demonstrate that you meet the requirements, please present your: updated resume, proof of education/training to the attention of Christina Commonda at the Band Office - 1 Paganakomin Mikan, Maniwaki, Quebec J9E 3C9 - by January 8, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. The applicant must be semi fluent in Algonquin and willing to increase their fluency level to meet the needs of the program. Applicants will undergo an interview which will assess Algonquin Language fluency. Preference will be given to Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg Band members in accordance to the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg’s Preferential Hiring Policy.
