Students are smarter, so grading is more demandingStudents have the highest incoming GPAThey do not have the highest outgoing GPA
Many UH programs have low grading rigorThat is not true at Shidler
Some of our bright students have never had to study extremely hardThey will need to improve their study skills

Shidler expects professional behavior from its studentsNo, you don’t have to wear a suit
(But do dress up when you make presentations)You must do professional-quality work
Work at a level consistent with business expectationsWork you could hand in to your bossWork you can be proud ofWork that meets all of the requirementsUnprofessional work will be rejected with a zero grade
“Slopping through” is not tolerated6
![Page 7: Welcome to the Shidler College of Business](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022062501/56816799550346895ddcd270/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
You are expected to study two hours outside class for every hour of class time
Yet many UH students take heavy course loads while working 20 to 40 hours per week and still do fine on their grades
At decent universities, you cannot work more than 10-15 ours per week, unless you take a lighter class load, and still do well in terms o grades
Shidler will not water down its classes for people who work too much 7

Pick up your academic gameRestrict your work hours or your class loadThe problem is not necessarily limited to the
first semester
