It takes more than just flowers to transform a wedding venue into a fairy tale, and lilee Fell—a fourth generation floral designer and horticulture expert—knows just how to create that magic.

lilee’s background and training, combined with the ability to bring a couple’s unique love story to life through floral arrangements, makes her one of the Hamptons’ most sought-after floral designers. lilee’s extensive travels, and studies with the world’s top floral designers inspired her artful approach to weddings.

lilee fell flowers: Her deep appreciation for the distinct natural environment of the Hamptons helps lilee craft remarkable pieces that reflect the personality of each couple, as well as the best of the Hamptons’ seasonal blooms.

lilee continually pushes herself to further hone her ability “to paint with flowers.” She regularly attends lectures, and cites the expertise of her fellow floral designers as helping her to perfect her craft. whether it’s modern minimalism or traditional chic, lilee’s arrangements have a one-of-a-kind style as distinctive as true love.

it’s always wise to follow your instincts when choosing the photo style that is most appealing to you. at the end of the day, the style you choose should reflect your unique personality and the tone of your wedding.

anna post gives brides the tools to capture every magic moment.

*

etiquette

[with anna post]

>> it’s a snap! “wediquette” expert anna post gives brides the key tools & advice they need to work with their wedding photographers to capture every special detail.

number one

An engagement shoot is a smart way to get to know your photographer. Use the photos for your wedding website, save-the-date cards, engagement album, or guest book. The shoot is also a chance to practice relaxing in front of the camera and to discover which types of photos are important to you. Have fun with the engagement session, and let your person-ality shine through.

number twO getting to know You:

Start by viewing a variety of candidates’ work online. when you’ve narrowed the field, meet with prospective photographers in person. look for personality qualities that inspire confidence and show an ability to organize and take charge, yet allow you to feel relaxed. Bring visual examples of what you like from magazines and the internet. Having a clear idea of what you like stylistically helps potential photographers understand your point of view, and ultimately makes your initial meeting much more productive.

let’s meet:

Always have a written agreement which spells out—among other things—the name of the actual photographer, times, places, number of hours, types of photos, key shots, number of touch-ups, and copyright permis-sions. Having everything in writing will help to ensure you get the photos you want with no confusion. You will end up feeling much more relaxed on your special day, knowing that your agreement with your photographer is solidified in writing.

number three ink the deal:

number four

Your photographer is not a mind reader, so communicate clearly. Provide a list of key people you’d like photographed and assign someone who can point them out.

number five be considerate:

Negotiate the inclusion of an album with your photographer, or have photos on a cd, and obtain copyright permission to create your own album after your wedding. look for a service that provides high-quality printing and design, archival papers, and strong, sewn bindings. don’t forget albums for parents and grandparents.

print it:

þ engagement photosþ the “first look”þ processional shots of attendantsþ bride and father walking up the aisleþ bride and groom exchanging vowsþ bride and groom kissingþ bride alone; groom aloneþ bride and maid of honorþ groom and best manþ bride and groom with wedding partyþ bride with her attendantsþ groom with his attendantsþ bride/groom with her/his parentsþ details of decor: cake, bouquet, favors, etc.þ bride and groom cutting the cakeþ bride and groom’s first danceþ bride dancing with her fatherþ groom dancing with his motherþ bouquet tossþ bride and groom leaving the reception

ready, set, smile shot list a few of our favorites:

never hesitate to articulate your vision to your photographer— you want the end result to reflect the joyful mood of your wedding. - anna post

“ANTHONY WORE MY LATE GRANDFATHER’S CUFF LINKS; I WORE MY

MOTHER’S RING,” JESSICA SAYS. “ON MY BOUQUET, I PINNED AN

ANTIQUE BIRD OF HAPPINESS THAT I’D BOUGHT WHILE TRAVELING

WITH MY DAD.”

THE PROPOSAL. A year and a half later, on the first day of spring, the

couple went for a ride on Anthony’s Harley across the Brooklyn Bridge to

Dumbo and walked down to the park. On this warm, beautiful day, the pair

strolled hand-in-hand, pausing by the playground and sitting on the benches

to bask in the sun. Unbeknownst to Jessica, Anthony had plans that would

ensure he and Jessica remembered this simple walk through the park for the

rest of their lives. While walking, Anthony suddenly let go of Jessica’s hand.

To her surprise, he got down on one knee and pulled out the most spectacular

diamond ring she had ever seen. In the middle of the bustling park,

surrounded by newly blooming flowers, Anthony asked Jessica to be his wife.

THE CELEBRATION. Sixty-five of the couple’s closest friends and family

witnessed these two best friends exchange vows, which Jessica says was one

of her favorite moments of the day. However, this touching moment couldn’t

prepare anyone for the energy-filled reception that would follow. As testament

to the exuberant personalities of the bride and groom, the dance floor was

full the entire evening. What’s more, Jessica and Anthony, in honor of that

memorable game of dodgeball, decided to once again exhibit their competitive

sides by holding a dance-off, which ended up being one of their favorite

moments of the wedding. All the guests were on their feet for most of the

night, especially the newlyweds. “I’m so happy we ditched the Sinatra song

and choreographed dance we’d originally planned for our first dance,” Jessica

says. “Instead we went with ‘Bad Things’ by Jace Everett, and we just free-

styled.” This switch-up added an extra flair that boosted the adrenaline levels

of all the guests, so they could keep up with the excited newlyweds. Dancing

the night away on the East End, Jessica and Anthony could not have chosen a

better way to celebrate their beginning.

featured wedding professionals

BEFORE THE RING. Jessica Graves and Anthony Bianco first locked eyes

while playing on opposing teams in a dodgeball match in Little Italy, New

York. Whether it was love at first sight or just the intensity of the game, they

made quite an impression on each other. They had their second encounter just

a few weeks later at the gym, where Anthony hung around just long enough

to ask Jessica out on a date. The pair went for dinner in the South Street

Seaport, followed by a sunset cruise around the Statue of Liberty. Despite the

conventional nature of their date, it was then that both Jessica and Anthony

began to fall in love. “The day was totally cheesy and absolutely romantic,”

Jessica says.

jessica & rob envisioned a color palette that would complement the vineyard venue & set the tone for a sophisticated soiree. together, they created a classic combination of cranberry & merlot hues with accents of green & cream.

[the couple’s palette]

>> daria culver draws on her intimate knowledge of design & events to make every wedding run like clockwork.

getting her start in the glamourous fashion industry, daria was no stranger to quick-thinking & beautiful design—while in her free time, she often helped plan parties for friends & family. however, it wasn’t until a tropical storm bore down on her own wedding, forcing her to switch venues just 48 hours before walking down the aisle, that daria knew she was meant to be a wedding planner. “i realized i was more than adept at handling any situation,” she says.

daria’s process daria works with couples to help set priorities for their special day. with a combination of inspiration & organization, she makes every event run like clockwork. her inspiration draws on everything from antique fairs & festivals to the unique personalities of her clients.

when jessica & rob realized they needed a savvy coordinator to ensure that their classically chic wedding flowed smoothly, daria was the clear choice. “daria handled all of the behind the scenes set-up so we could truly enjoy the day,” jessica says.

michelle + austinmichelle & austin, who currently reside in nicaragua, chose east hampton for their wedding destination because it holds countless summer memories for them & represents a relaxing retreat from the hustle & bustle of everyday life.

Thirteen years ago, austin Drill walked into a popular Rollins College hangout and planted a big kiss on a friend’s cheek—or so he thought. In a case of mistaken identity, austin had kissed the cheek of a complete stranger: Michelle Marino. embarrassed, austin continued to apologize for the confusion every time he spotted Michelle on campus. eventually his apologies turned into a dinner invitation, and the two went on to date throughout college. after graduation they moved first to New York City, then to California, and eventually to their current home in Nicaragua. During their time in California, Michelle and austin got into the habit of strolling along the beach every night at sunset. One such evening, after returning from visiting family in New York—where, unbeknownst to Michelle, austin had relayed his proposal plans to relatives—austin began to reflect on the couple’s relationship. “I thought it was sweet that he was being so sentimental, but it didn’t dawn on me that he was proposing until he dropped to one knee, reached in his pocket, and had a ring in his hand,” Michelle says.

the ceremonY. Michelle and austin both took special care to include sentimental family heirlooms in their ceremony as a tribute to past generations. Michelle wore a pair of her mother’s striking blue earrings as her “something borrowed” and “something blue,” along with her grandmother’s vintage cameo ring, while austin sported his grandfather’s antique cufflinks. as the couple exchanged their vows in the ethereal amphitheater of the LongHouse Reserve, with a delicate sprinkling of rose petals on the grass beneath them, the soft melodies of a French chanteuse singing and playing the accordion filled the air. It was an absolutely perfect musical accompaniment to the couple’s harmonious love story.

the daY & design. In an effort to keep their wedding as eco-friendly as possible, Michelle and austin were vigilant about choosing Hamptons vendors and serving local, seasonal foods whenever possible. They could not have been happier with the results—a sustainable celebration that was also super luxe. The couple kept the decor light, whimsical, and full of eclectic touches. Moroccan lanterns cast a rosy glow, and pretty parasols provided shade and doubled as favors for guests to keep at the end of the elegant evening. The result was an inspired soiree that was as relaxed as it was sophisticated—exactly the way Michelle and austin wanted to celebrate the beginning of their married life.

“we dreamed up a pale pink affair with golden accents & a few perfect pops of color by way of cocktail tables covered in raspberry silk & bright pink, moroccan-inspired votive candles,” the couple says.

wedding weekend. as a native of the North Fork, Dana couldn’t wait to share the magic of her part of Long Island with her loved ones; while Matt, who had become familiar with the area as his and Dana’s love had blossomed, agreed that the picturesque locale was perfect for their wedding. “The North Fork is a hidden gem; a special place where we come to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City,” the couple explains. They chose Bedell Cellars to give their guests a laid-back vineyard experience, during which they could sample local wines while also basking in the North Fork’s natural beauty.

the daY & design. Dana and Matt infused their special day with plenty of local flavor, and quirky, homespun design elements. The result? a sophisticated soiree that exuded a laid-back sense of rustic charm. “From the antique skeleton keys that I had collected over the years to the rattan table linens and the torn paper chosen for our invitations, each detail played an important role in the overall decor,” Dana says. With their design motif perfectly complementing the destination, the couple made sure to do the same with their wedding menu. They selected only local ingredients, including oysters from Dana’s father’s oyster farm, making for a sustainably delicious spread that delighted their guests.

dana + matt“we took the beauty of the winery & the existing natural colors to create our color palette — antique white, sage green, rose petal pink & cream,” the couple says of their ethereal wedding decor.

the laid-back town of bridgehampton had Just the right vibe for elly & peter’s magical wedding. the dreamy atmosphere, coupled with peter’s family connections in the area, made the destination simply perfect.

When elly O’Rourke interviewed at a consulting firm in Tokyo, Japan, she certainly didn’t expect peter Brown, who explained the firm’s compensation structure to her, to become the love of her life. Initially, elly deemed peter a bit too serious for her more spontaneous taste, but after some loving prodding from two mutual friends–who would later serve as the maid of honor and best man at their wedding–and a number of fun-filled, late-night visits to traditional Japanese pubs in Tokyo, the couple realized that they were falling madly in love. “peter and I really became inseparable,” elly says. Years later, on their wedding day, peter confessed to elly that he had in fact fallen in love with her at first sight on that first day they met, while they both marveled at the unusual circumstances of their first meeting.

the proposal. Elly and Peter dated for nearly five years while living and working in Japan before they both decided to attend business school back in the United States at Duke University. The summer after their first year at Duke, Elly took an internship in Uganda, to be followed by a term studying abroad in Spain. Peter–who had actually had a ring for Elly for about a year–planned a romantic trip to visit his true love in Spain and pop the ultimate question. “At the beginning of the visit he proposed to me at a plaza near my house. We then spent close to a month traveling and celebrating our engagement,” Elly recalls.

the day & design. Aiming for an atmosphere of carefree, homespun whimsy, Elly and Peter set the mood with a vivid palette of striking blood orange and sunny yellow with chartreuse accents. In addition to the bold colors, the couple infused their reception with plenty of inspired specialty cocktails—think honeydew fizz and thyme-flavored vodka—and playful sweets. A cupcake tier spilling with luscious orange sugar flowers, and crowned with a vintage lovebird cake topper acted as a sweet centerpiece for Elly and Peter’s decadent dessert bar; while an array of scrumptious mini-sweets completed the delicious spread. “I wanted the cake topper to stand out, so I kept the rest of the dessert bar simple, with cupcakes in a variety of flavors,” Elly says.

the ceremonY. gabi and Sean tied the knot on the sixth anniversary of their first date in a light, airy outdoor ceremony on the expansive grounds of the Bourne Mansion. The couple took advantage of the openness of the setting, and crafted a unique, homespun altar to serve as a personalized backdrop for their vows. “We used handmade details and antiques we collected on our annual trips to New Hampshire to create our own ceremony altar,” the couple explains. From the love of family and friends surrounding them to the glow of their own creativity setting the mood, the smitten couple could not have been happier with their heartfelt open-air nuptials.

the daY + design. Using a mixture of re-purposed antique treasures and quaint accents—think sunny floral arrangements perched atop vintage suitcases and cake stands—gabi and Sean transformed the Bourne Mansion into a modern day wedding wonderland. perky tones of yellow, aqua, cobalt, and lime were woven into each detail, ensuring a sparkling smile on every face. In addition to cheerful decor, gabi and Sean set the mood with plenty of mischievous pops of fun. “as the guests entered the cocktail area, they had a choice of lemonade or sangria served in pint-sized Mason jars with aqua striped straws,” the couple says, adding that they ended the evening by handing out miniature wine bottles as favors.

gabi + seanJuxtaposing a bright, youthful color palette with an endearing collection of their own antiques, gabi & sean transformed their wedding celebration into a fantastical dreamland full of love, laughter & whimsy.
