Dear Members,The Club has continued to experience growth in trade and activity on all days of the week and across all hours of the day. The broad member demographic attracted to the business between Wenty Café, Lawsons Bistro family area and Magpie Sports Bar have all combined recently for some fantastic peak trading results.

However, we also realise that we have to be constantly aware of and receptive to feedback from our Members and we have recently supplemented your experiences with mystery shopper reviews and a competitor analysis. Our Management team is both receptive and responsive to the opportunities presented in this review, to ensure that the delivery of customer service is both consistent and focused.

As Wenty Leagues is a proud partner to the Black Dog Institute, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Members to participate in the national mental health initiative “Exercise Your Mood” month. Research suggests that regular exercise plays its part to alleviate symptoms of depression and other mental

health illnesses. I would hope that activity ranging from gentle exercise classes to participating with one of our sporting clubs or even Latin dance can provide the change required to your exercise habits if you are not already doing so.

We recently hosted a training evening with all of our Sporting Clubs and issued guidelines to help this group of volunteers. Topics covered included the duties and responsibilities of the committees through to interactions and mutual expectations in dealing with the Leagues Club and its staff.

Wenty Leagues is pleased to be able to provide support to a variety of community initiatives under the ClubGRANTS program for 2015. The various initiatives encourage cultural harmony, community safety, health and fitness, education and community involvement as well as improving the quality of life for many individuals and groups in our community. Our contribution continues to grow and at the time of writing we anticipate funding over $300,000 will eventuate in this grants period.

I would like to welcome Robert Willis our new Director to the Team. Rob has applied himself to getting up to speed with all that is currently happening at the club and all the exciting concepts in the master plan that the Board showed our Members at the AGM.

I wish all our dads a Happy Father’s Day for Sunday 6 September.

Dear Members,I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Kovacs to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer. This restructure will provide the consistent day-to-day leadership and oversite to our management team in our ever changing and operationally intensive business. This is a very well deserved appointment and reflects a commitment and dedication to the business and all things Wenty Leagues.

As we move forward, I shall focus my efforts on the development and delivery of the Core Club Masterplan within the Club foot print and the diversification of its assets.

I again thank the Members for your acceptance of the necessary changes caused due to the expansion to the Wenty Lounge. These modifications have been made to comply with the Smoke-Free Environment Act 2000 which prohibits food service and consumption in any area where smoking is permitted.

The Club’s Starlight Room is gearing up to host an array of home-grown Aussie talent and international shows in the upcoming months including internationally acclaimed Chris Connor from Las Vegas, the Australian Bee Gees from London’s West End, Kevin Bloody Wilson, Todd McKenney and Shannon Noll. The kids will be entertained at Wenty too this September with our special school holiday fun program. Also, ex-yellow Wiggle Sam Moran is bringing his Play Along With Sam show to Wenty. Tickets for these shows and more are on sale now. Get your tickets quick before they sell out.

Our free entertainment in the Wenty Lounge has extended to Sunday nights with our new Jazz Sessions featuring the Sydney Jazz Collective. We will also be hosting two new monthly $10,000 raffles on a Thursday night between 5pm-9pm. Like all new initiatives we hope that these activities provide added alternatives to the Member offering; more details in this Journal.

Father’s Day is just around the corner andthere is a great line up of all-day activitiesplanned. The Club will be open from 8am with a special breakfast in Lawsons Bistro and entertainment for the whole family. A photographer will be onsite too from 8am-11am so that you can get your free photo taken with dad to mark the special day.

I look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Community report BUILDING LOVE CAMPAIGN !

Wenty Leagues continues to be a long standing supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Westmead following many years of combined community fundraising and awareness initiatives. Most recently, Wenty Leagues proudly presented the House with a $3,000 contribution towards their Building Love Campaign which was run in partnership with Channel 7 who hosted a live telethon on Saturday 16 May. The campaign set out to raise funds to build a new House to help meet the demand of families in need of a place to stay whilst their ill child seeks treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. With the help and generous contributions of people from around NSW, Ronald McDonald House Westmead have so far been able to raise over $20.5 million to go towards building their new house. To open the House by December 2016, the House need to raise a further $10 million. It’s not too late to donate! Visit www.buildinglove.org.au or phone 9845 0600 and help Build Love at Ronald McDonald House Westmead.

NSW UNDER 16 STATE OF ORIGIN !

Wenty Leagues’ Ringrose Park was recently selected as the training venue for the NSW Under 16 State of Origin side. The new grandstand, well-maintained field and upgraded facilities made Ringrose Park the perfect venue to host the team’s training sessions. This is a highly sought after and honoured selection for these boys, indicative of playing abilities that lead to much higher distinctions, with the chosen team playing the curtain raiser before Origin Game 1. Included on the coaching staff for the team were Wenty Leagues’ Head Trainer Tim Bottle, Legends of League Brad Fittler, Danny Bederus, Paul Sironen, Andrew Ryan, Jamie Feeney and NSWRL Official Greg Nichols.

WENTY’S CRICKETING SUPERSTAR

Arjun Nair, at just 17 years of age, has a cricketing career that many people would envy. Having been inspired by Aussie cricketing great, Adam Gilchrist, Arjun has made his own mark on the cricket field. Arjun, a genuine all-rounder player, started as a Wenty Leagues Junior cricketer at just 6 years of age and has subsequently won Wenty Leagues’ Sports Person of the Year Award in 2012. His career has seen him travel Australia but now Arjun has set off on his first overseas cricket tour representing Australia in the U19’s Team in the UK during July & August in 2015. This selection is the biggest in Arjun’s career to date with only 15 players selected nationally. Some of Arjun’s other impressive milestones include:• Selected for the U19’s Camp in Brisbane in June 2015• Cricket Australia Spin Camp in Brisbane in May 2015

• Captain U19’s NSW Championship Cricket Team in 2014/15• All Schools U19’s NSW Cricket Team in 2013/14 & 2014/15• U17’s Australia Championship Team in 2014/15• U17’s NSW Cricket Team in 2014/15We wish Arjun all the best with his endeavours both on and off the cricket field.

Where did your passion for food come from?My mum definitely taught me from a young age the importance of food and family. She would cook the traditional Sunday roast or we’d host a family BBQ to bring everyone together. The time we spent together preparing and cooking food are still some of the fondest memories I have of my childhood and I’m pleased that I have been able to turn that passion into my career.

Which celebrity chefs would you like to work with?I have had the privilege of working for Neil Perry at his world famous Rockpool Restaurant in Sydney. It was a great opportunity to work with Neil Perry and some of Sydney’s best chefs which exposed me to invaluable experiences.

If given the opportunity, I’d enjoy working with Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver because I feel their cooking styles and personalities could teach me a lot.

What’s your favourite cuisine to cook?I enjoy making Asian inspired foods. With the night noodle market and street food culture really starting to take-off here in Sydney, there’s always a new place to go and try. I’m often making curries and other dishes with an Asian twist for my family and friends.

How did you develop the Thai Curry Snapper? When I visited Thailand, I fell in love with the Thai street food. The food wasn’t overcomplicated but instead it was simple and all about the traditional Thai ingredients and flavours. This dish with its lemongrass, Thai coconut and eggplant flavours take me back to the food stalls of Thailand.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His biography ‘DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson’ is a raucous, earthy, in depth look at perhaps one of the only Australian Comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.

Kevin Bloody Wilson’s story is remarkable. He has become a part of Australian culture, a part of who we are and how we define ourselves. His DILLIGAF attitude is a quality to be envied. It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson.

Don’t miss the legend at Wenty Leagues.

DISTRICT RUGBY LEAGUE NSW CupAt last report Round 8 had been completed with only two wins at that point with Coach Brett Cook desperately hoping for improvements, however that did not happen immediately.

R9 vs the 2015 Premiers Penrith - Although losing 16-4 Wenty created enough opportunities to win comfortably.

R10 vs NZ Warriors at Pirtek - Playing the 3rd placed Warriors, Wenty went on a scoring spree, winning 48-6 in a staggering display with Chris Sandow leading the way.

R11 vs Newtown at Ringrose - Newtown started on fire and in a matter of minutes led 20-0 from which Wenty never recovered and, although ultimately fighting back, lost 26-12.

R12 - ByeR13 vs Penrith at Port Macquarie for the Country Round – In atrocious conditions in a tough game with the score not a true reflection, Wenty went down 16-0.

R14 vs Bulldogs at Belmore With a mid-season change of coach (Brett Cook going to the NYC and Steve Hales from NYC to NSW Cup) this was going to be interesting how the players would react to the changes. On this occasion the team put the events aside and played some great football to convincingly defeat a strong team 16-4.

R15 vs Mounties at Canberra A brilliant first half saw Wenty go to the break leading 22-10 and being the far superior side. The second half was tight until the 58th minute. Wenty were still leading by 10 when some tough refereeing calls (with 9 consecutive penalties against us and 3 tries) that should not have been awarded and a questionable forth try turned the game around. Subsequently Mounties ran in 40 unanswered points for Wenty to lose 52-22.

R16 vs Newcastle at Ringrose - The disappointment of the previous game was put aside and in an entertaining match, Wenty defeated the highly rated Knights 16-12.

R17 saw us travel to WIN Stadium with a depleted team to face the Illawarra Cutters. Illawarra got out to a quick start and led 20-0, scoring two tries whilst a Wenty player was in the bin. Wenty gradually clawed back to 24-22 before a late try sealed victory for the Cutters 30-22.

It has been an indifferent season so far which needs to turn around quickly if we are to participate in the semi-finals.

Ron Massey CupAfter Round 6 Chris Yates and his team were undefeated and playing well, but still had plenty of room for improvement.

R7 vs Asquith was another washed out game.R8 vs Mounties – In a battle of two very good sides, Mounties led for most of the game. Wenty had the opportunity to win in the dying seconds but the play went wrong and ultimately lost 18-16.

R9 - ByeR10 vs Windsor at Windsor. Against the always competitive Wolves, Wenty played some great football and ran out clear winners 32-6.

R11 vs Auburn Warriors at Ringrose - In another encounter against a massive team, Wenty were held early but in the second half proved far too strong and won 36-12.

R12 - No games.R13 vs Wests at Campbelltown Stadium - Wests are always a tough opponent, particularly at Campbelltown and this was no exception. Wests rose to the challenge to hold on and win 23-20. Wenty had an opportunity to win the game on the last play but the ball was lost over the line.A catch up R4 match vs Cabramatta at Ringrose was next on the agenda. On a sad day in which a Cabramatta Sydney Shield player sustained a terrible injury, Wenty had a fine match against a good side and in a strong all-round display ran out winners 30-18.

R14 vs Blacktown Workers at Blacktown This was not only a tough contest but a very spiteful match in which a Blacktown player was deservedly sent off after inflicting an injury to one of our key players and who is still suffering the effects, and two other players also went on report. Although Wenty won 24-6 the match was in the balance until the last 10 minutes.

R15 vs Kingsgrove at Jubilee Oval Kingsgrove scored first and tried hard, although they were ultimately outclassed, with Wenty winning 60-10.

R16 vs Cabramatta at New Era. This was a highly entertaining game of Rugby League and a seesawing match. Wenty scored a try on the last play of the game to win 24-20.At this stage of the season Wenty are positioned second with a match in hand and are well placed to figure strongly in the business end of the season.

EventsThe WDRLFC Website is up and running and all information relating to the Club can be obtained by visiting wentymagpies.com.au. The Club is looking for new members and interested persons can join online by visiting our website.

Ron Bottle – Secretary

JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE In 2015 we are proud to announce that we have two new Patrons of our club; Mr David Nugent and Mr Lou Zivanovic. These men are great ambassadors of the WUJRLFC and we are honoured to have them associated with us in this way.

We are also extremely proud of the fact that our wonderful TryTime program has grown to 31 players in season 2015. Darren Deitz, our TryTime coach, can be justifiably pleased with this result as he has worked very hard to give these players every opportunity to participate in Rugby League and be a very important part of the WUJRLFC.

We are now into Round 10 of our Parramatta DJRL comp and at this stage we have 14 teams leading their respective comps with 7 of those teams unbeaten. These teams are our 16-1s (who have had only 8 points scored against them), 15-1s, 12-1s, 11-3s, 10-1s, 9-1s & 8-4s. Most teams are in semi-final contention and we wish them well as we head into the big games to come.

Aspley fundraising is in full swing and our annual fundraising night will be held on the 1 Aug at the Northmead Bowling Club, Windsor Rd Northmead. We expect a large group of Wenty people attending this function as all funds raised go towards the Aspley Experience which began in 1968.

The annual WUJRLFC Golf Day at Fox Hills Golf Course will be held on 21 Aug. All monies raised will go to special causes such as the Kurt Drysdale appeal. This is a great chance to have a game of golf with mates and raise funds for our Social Club. If you would like to come along please contact Sam Gambin on 0410 660 494.

Our Sydney Shield side coached by Alex Chan is leading their comp and are playing some great football along the way. We have some great young talent in this squad and, along with our A Grade and C Grade teams, the future looks outstanding for the WUJRLFC. Right throughout our club there are many young talented Rugby League players who, if given the opportunity, can reach their potential and make it into the NRL.

Our Mini Rugby League teams (U6s to U8s) total 13 teams (approx. 140 players), with our U8s having 5 teams in their age group, which is a first for Wenty. All teams are having a great time learning new skills and having fun playing footy with new friends.

Our Mod Rugby League sides (U9s to U12s) totalling 14 teams (approx. 200 players) are also learning the skills and dedication required to eventually gain entry into International Rugby League. We have some great teams in the group who are wonderful ambassadors for the WUJRLFC.

The International Rugby League sides (U13s to Sydney Shield) (approx. 500 players) are extremely competitive and are playing with plenty of Wenty spirit and tenacity. They are learning that hard work is rewarded and are all playing great footy. These players represent our club at our highest level and there are plenty of players here who show great potential.

We are particularly proud of every achievement of all of our players and teams, as we are a club that thrives on the fact that we are a family club and that we all belong to something that we can be proud of, something to belong to and be respected by. The WUJRLFC has a wonderful history in Rugby League with our first team playing in 1913 we now play in our 103rd season of Rugby League and look forward to the future.

Allan McGowan - Secretary

GOLF We celebrated our 50th Year Challenge against Central Coast Leagues Club at Penrith golf course on 7 Jun with over 50 players. The weather wasn’t very kind to us as we played nine holes in very dense fog. After golf we had our presentation and lunch back at Wenty Leagues where over 100 people attended and a great day was had by all. There were too many winners to name but the main trophy was decided by the top 8 players from each club with Wenty winning by 281pts to 255pts. Special thanks go to Frenmore Small Goods who kindly donated some hams which were used in our raffle and also to Rob Touma from Pendle Hill Automotive who will give all Wenty members special attention to your cars. Rob kindly donated some prizes which also helped with our raffle.

Our Clubman of the Year at the half-year mark sees Frank Soballa leading on 103pts from Leon Plotkans on 86pts then Glen Grant on 83pts.

The Leagues Club Cup was won in A Grade by Frank Soballa from Rei Reihana, with B Grade won by Glen Grant from Geoff Bell, while C Grade was won by Tosca Lipovic from Graham Kenyon. Also on this day Leon Plotkans won our back nine jackpot with a shot of 59cms from the hole which netted him $424.

The Memorial Trophy as won in A Grade by Leon Plotkans from Peter Lipovic, B Grade by Danny Chaiban from Frank Martin, while C Grade was won by Bill Hilder from Graham Kenyon.

The dreaded air swing club claimed some more members in Troy Tyson (again), Tosca Lipovic (again) and Alan Thompson (twice).

The over 50’s was won by Frank Martin.

Alan Thompson – President.

WOMEN’S BOWLS Pennant results have been confirmed for the 2015 season and I am happy to advise that the sides entered in the grades 2’s, 3’s & 4’s finished in 2nd place. Well done to all players.

Our Open Fours Tournament held last month was a great success with 3 Wenty teams taking out the top prizes.

Four teams and several supporters travelled to Towradgi Ladies Bowling Club to play in their annual Charity Day and we had a really good day. The weather was vastly improved from the bitter cold of last year and though we didn’t take home any prizes from the game, several of our ladies won raffle prizes.

On 21 Sep we are holding our Open Ladies Triples Tournament and would welcome teams from all the surrounding clubs to enter. This tournament is a Two Bowl Triples and we have some really good prize money to win. Please contact Secretary Joyce Rochford on 9863 5420 for further information.

Currently we are playing our Club Triples Championship and there have been some really close games. Results of one semi-final are – D. Martin, M. Kang & S. Baitieri 21 def M. Sinclair, I. Littlefield & J. Nesbitt 18. The next championship to be played at the completion of the triples will be the Major Fours.

Social bowls are held each Thu, names in by 9am on 9896 3581, also mixed social bowls are held each Fri from 2.30pm, names in by 2pm.

GOSHIN JU-JITSU The Goshin Ju Jitsu AGM was held on Mon 27 Apr in the Park View Room and congratulations to the following committee members for 2015:Sensei Rick CefaiPresident Ray BlighSecretary Amanda SeckTreasurer Karen HiltonGeneral Committee Karen Attard, Steve Lawless, Michelle Pullen, and all instructorsTrevor Simpson, Andrew Seck, Danny Greenhalgh, Brian Carter & Kim StephensonPatrons Trevor and Marie Simpson

We have had 2 grading’s since our last report. Congratulations to Stevie Gage on attaining the rank of Junior Orange Belt (part 1) and to Nic Dunn on attaining Senior Orange Belt (part 1). Students train very hard to score a passing grade – talent gets you nowhere without passion and determination.

Last term we have been focussing on the basics and fundamentals of Ju Jitsu – kiai’s and breakfalls. A Kiai (pronounced key-eye) is a short yell or shout uttered

29WENTYLEAGUES.COM.AU

Page 32: Wenty Leagues August/September Journal 2015

when performing an attacking or defending move or breakfall. A kiai aids in concentration, confidence and power during a strike as well as intimidating an opponent. A breakfall is a movement performed to prevent injury when landing. Both of these techniques are of paramount importance in Ju Jitsu for the prevention of injury.

We are very excited to announce a new initiative will commence next term. At the end of class every week, we will announce a “Student of the Week” encouragement award. A trophy (which is returned the following week) and a certificate will be awarded to a junior student. Awards will be based on behaviour on the mat, arriving to class on time, who has tried their best or mastered a technique or displayed on the mat the values of Wenty Leagues’ Goshin Ju-Jitsu Club. Our thanks to McDonalds Wentworthville who have kindly donated the certificates, which include a meal coupon and discount vouchers.

Also this term we are focussing on gradings. Our students have shown a lot of improvement last term due in part to the dedication of our wonderful instructors who volunteer their time and experience.

SNOOKER & BILLIARDS Welcome again to our little report from the Wenty Leagues Snooker Hall.

Well it’s the middle of the year and the club

championships are well under way. There have been some really good and surprising results. Some of the weaker players are starting to show real improvement and starting to knock out some of the better players which adds to all the excitement down here at the tables.

The final result for the Handicap Snooker Championship goes to a well-deserved player, Shawali Masudi, whose game has absolutely leaped forward in 2015 and I don’t think I have ever seen him play as good as he is now. Runner up was a big surprise, one of our younger players, Erin Carter, another one whose game has improved over the last 12 months. Final score 3-1.

Our Western Districts teams are doing very well representing their club in this comp. At the time of writing this newsletter Div. 2 team were in 2nd spot and our Div. 3 team was running 1st. Our other Div. 3 team were running 4th which is a good achievement as many of them have never played representative comp before and I’m sure in years to come will be up there achieving the ultimate goal of 1st place. Keep it up guys & girls. Yes, the girls are kicking backsides of the guys and showing us all how it’s done!

Our numbers are still quite large in the Tue night knockout comp and all members are more than welcome to join in the fun. Thank you for coming on these cold frosty nights.

See you all at the tables and stay snooker loopy,

Stephen Brennan - President

MEN’S BOWLS Minor Fours final was played and won by the team of Ted Deeth, Graham Reynolds, Arthur Bramman & Steve Pollard defeating Joe Fenech, Ken Ashton, Steve Baldwin & Barrie Craig after some exciting bowls played by all players.

Minor Singles final was played between Michael Brown and Martin Fucile with Michael being the victor 31-19 after scores were 19-17. Michael stormed home to take out this year’s Minor Singles.

Club Singles final was played against Craig Maythers and Mick Harry with Mick taking the early lead only for Craig to dig deep with some big saves early on in the match to play too consistent in the later stages to win 31-19.

Minor Pairs final was played between George Mumford & Simon Burke and Pat Collison & Dennis MacCaffery with George & Simon winning 27-13.

Club Pairs final was played between Jeff Gallagher & Mick McDonald and Ken Ashton & Billy Tai. After being down 13-2 early, Jeff & Mick stormed home to win 31-13.

Pennants has come to an end with only Grade 5 making play offs for 2015 going down in the Zone 10 Semi Final to eventual winners Pennant Hills. Grade 1 lost to Merrylands in last round by 1 shot to advance to the final which Merrylands won. Grades 3, 6 & 7 finished the year well only to fall short of finals spots. Well done to all players that took part.

Social Bowls has never been stronger with good numbers taking part each Tuesday & Friday. These days start at 10am with names in by 9.30am.

Wenty Leagues Bowling Club is proud of its Men’s and Women’s bowls tradition and accomplishments. One of the great things about Bowls is that it’s a game for the whole family. A game for all ages - there is no limit.

Taking up Bowls is easy. You start out as a social member, get free lessons from our qualified bowls coaches, enjoy a couple of “roll-ups” and you’re on your way to becoming a full bowling member for just $64 for Ladies and $80 for Men ($65 for Pensioners).

The Men’s and Women’s Bowls Clubs are joining forces

for their Open Day and Bring-a-Buddy Day in Nov. The Clubs hope to add to their current membership of 150 men and 50 women.

Men’s bowls Coordinator Mick Harry hoped to attract men aged in their late-30s or early-40s, who may have had to give up other sports due to injury.

The day will include prizes, free drinks and a barbeque, plus the chance to have a go at lawn bowls with some general direction from qualified coaches.

INDOOR BOWLS Our Mixed Pairs played on Sun 14 Jun. A large turn up enjoyed some very good bowling. The winners are as follows:

Winners Lead Dave Evans Skip Jacquie DummittRunners up Lead David Campbell Skip Luki Nuner

Congratulations to all for a most enjoyable day.

At the moment indoor bowlers are enjoying the two new mats that we bought last month. We were all hoping the new mats would make us top notch players, but sadly that was not the case.

Mary Zammit and Sheelah Poulton, two of our indoor bowlers, played in the outdoor ladies fours and both came up winners. Mary’s team won and Sheelah’s team were runner ups. What a great effort!

We had a very special birthday celebration at the end of June. Our most senior player Vera Kildea turned 99 and is still playing like a champ. Happy birthday to you!Don’t forget to put your name down to play in the ladies singles on 9 Aug.

SWIMMING On Sat 21 Mar, over 500 swimmers and supporters converged on Albury to contest at the 79th A.I.F. Swimming Championships.

Amongst those were 21 members proudly representing Wenty Leagues Club. Although small in number compared to other clubs, we had some pleasing results.

Howard Ambler stormed home to win the 80-84 years 25m Handicap. Cathy Henly finished second in the ladies 70-79 years race and was also the winner of the Service Award for this event.

All of our teams swam faster than their allocated times while Tom Lamont, Sean Henly, Cathy Henly and Ted Jolly all qualified for the finals of the Tobruk Shield. Congratulations to all of them on a fine effort. The 6 x 50m relay, sponsored by Wenty Leagues Club, was the most exciting event of the day with swimmers going stroke-for-stroke before Coogee/Randwick got the touch in for victory.Special thanks to our Captain, Sean Henly, and Peter Bain for their untiring efforts behind the scenes on the day and in Peter’s case, weeks leading up to the carnival.

Elsewhere, one of our senior swimmers, John McInerney, competed in the NSW State Police and Emergency Services Swimming Carnival where he won an amazing five gold medals in the 80 years and over section.

John, who won the open freestyle event at this carnival back in 1995, this year won the 50m backstroke and then cleaned up all the freestyle events from 50-400m. Wenty swimmers are justifiably proud of John’s record.

QueanbeyanA few of our members attended the 29th Anniversary of the Queens Legacy Carnival at Queanbeyan. Once again it was a keenly contested carnival with swimmers having to be close or very near to their nominated time.

The 25m event had the first three placings within 0.05 of a second of their time with Robin Thomson being the most successful in taking out the event being 0.01 off her time.

The 50m event had Julie Manning, our member from Forster, having to swim off for equal second place but she could not keep up the pace and was a bit further away from her nominated time and was placed 3rd.

We were not as successful in the 4x50m Crocodile Cup Relay coming in seventh and placed sixth in the 10x25m relay with borrowed swimmers from our friends at Blacktown and Seven Hills.

We enjoyed our meet and greet on Saturday evening at the new venue being the Queanbeyan Kangaroo Rugby League Club. The Presentation Luncheon on Sun was also held at the Kangaroo Club.

Raffles were held on Sat Night and at the Sun luncheon with all proceeds going to Queanbeyan Monaro Legacy. This year we have raised the largest amount so far being $4,000. This donation is greatly appreciated by the widows and their families of Legacy in the area.
