The areas marked "A" shall be open for selectionby the special classes of selectors hereinafter named inthe following order of preference:

MARINERS and all persons navigating the _Eimer Har-bour Basin at Fremantle, Western Australia, are herebynotified that dredges are engaged in deepening opera-tions in the basin, and Mariners approaching thesedredges must use the whistle (sound) signals laid downin Article No. 28 of the Board of Trade Regulations forPreventing collisions, viz.:

One short blast--"I am directing my eourse tostarboard.

Two short blasts" I am directing my course toport."

Upon which the dredge will (provided_ she is not show-ing by day a red flag or by night two vertical red lightsas provided for hereunder) haul over as far as possiblein the direction opposite to the side which the approach-ing vessel has indicated as above that she desires touse. Approaching- Mariners must be careful in usingthese sound signals to give sufficient time for the dredgeto move as indicated.

If the approaching- vessel makes no signal the dredgeill remain stationawy.The signals exhibited by dredges working in the fair-

way are as follows:--1. When dredge exhibits a Black Ball shape by day or

a Green. Light under a White Light, four feetapart by nightVessels coining in must leavedredge on their own starboard hands, and outgoingvessels must leave dredge on their own port hands.

2. When dredge _exhibits a Black Diamond shape byday or a lied Light under a White Light, four'feet apart, by nightVessels coming- in must leavethe dredge on their, own port hands, and outgoingvessels must leave dredge on their own starboardhands.

3. When dredge exhibits a Red Flag by day or twoRed Lights vertically four feet apart by night,this denotes that dredge cannot be moved fromher position, and if sufficient room exists forvessels to pass, the side on which they are to passwill be indicated by one of the signals detailedunder No. 1 and 2 above being also shown. If,however, neither of these latter signals is shown,the dredge must not be passed till either daylightappears or definite orders have been received fromthe Harbour Master.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Muni-cipality of Northam propose to borrow the sum of Fourthousand pounds (£4,000), to be expended on the re-demption of portion of Loan No. 2.

Advertisements: Notices for insertion must be re-ceived by the Government Printer before Ten o 'clockon the day preceding the day of publication, and arecharged at the following rates :

and half-price for each subsequent insertion.To estimate the cost of an advertisement, count nine

words to a line ; heading, signature, and date beingreckoned as separate lines.

All fees are payable in advance. Remittances shouldbe made by money order, postal note, or cheque. Ex-change must be added to cheques.
