PBL Focus of the Week: Welcome Back and Uniform Head Lice Please remember that Monday night is Hair Check Night’. We need to be vigilant with this practice to prevent the spreading of head lice. We send a warm welcome to all of our new families This brings our current number to 228 students (40 more than this time last year) which is wonderful news as this means we retain 9 classes for the year! Term 1 Calendar and Staff List Attached to the Bulletin today is the Term 1 Calendar and Staff List. The Calendar can be updated as you are notified of upcoming events. This year we welcome Mrs Ruth Parrey to the staff team. Mrs Parrey will be teaching 1/2 Kookaburras. Making Contact with your Child’s Class Teacher Please dont hesitate to contact the office if you have concerns about your childs education or need to pass on information to their teacher. The office staff can book a time for you to meet with them or a member of Executive. Please avoid going directly to the classroom or playground to see staff as they are preparing lessons or supervising children. Skoolbag App To stay up to date with daily reminders , notices (including emergency alerts eg flooding and bushfires) and the Bulletin it is essential for all families to download the WPS Skoolbag App. Please follow the instructions here in this image. The app will work for both Android and iPhones. Please note: after this week, all Bulletins will be digital. There will not be any paper copies, you can access the newsletter via Skoolbag, the website or via email. Please contact the office if you’d like to be added to the email distribution list.

No Guitar Lessons this Year Due to an extremely full curriculum this year we will unfortunately be unable to host guitar lessons.

P&C Report

P & C Meeting The next P & C meeting will be the AGM on Monday 10th February, 2020 in the staffroom at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Canteen The canteen will re-open next Tuesday 11th February. It will be open everyday except Mondays. The 2019 menu will remain until further notice. Student Banking Starts next Friday. Children can bank as little as 50c.

Leaders’ Induction Our School Leaders and House Captains will be inducted and presented with their badges next Friday 14th February just before the Academic Assembly at 1:15pm in the hall.

Swimming Carnival Our carnival is to be held this Friday, 7th February at Cessnock Pool. Notes and money are due to your child’s teacher by tomorrow.

School Hats WPS is a sun-safe school. All staff and students are required to wear a black, sun-safe (wide brimmed) hat. We stock 2 sizes in the school office for $7.

Kiss and Leave Please remember we are a ‘Kiss & Drop Off’ School. We encourage you to drop your children off at the school gate without entering the grounds unless you need to go to the office. In the afternoons parents/carers/young children etc. are to wait outside the gates until the gates open, unless you need to go to the office or would like to wait in the ‘Community Waiting Area’ at the front of the Administration Building.

(including expectations of appropriate shoes, socks, jewellery, hair accessories, jumpers and hats) to school, at school and on the way home. Three (3) days of incomplete uniform will be ac-cepted for extenuating circumstances.

Sschool day. Five (5) days of explained absences will be accepted. Six (6) or more absences will result in the student being ineligible for the End of Term Reward. (As per Department of Education Policy parents are required to explain the absenc-es within 7 days.)
