TECHNICAL PROFILE
In order to guarantee the quality of each single record, the record is treated since the very
beginning for those two parallel ways are followed (When source is Dynamite):
1) Field Equipment and Material continuous checking:
Three periodic checking processes are usually applied, according to operator
requirements, to Field Equipment and Material:
FDU daily checking test: by retrieving information out of the four daily test
records into SITA Software “Courtesy of Mr. Ian Vincent”:
a) Instrument Noise: to obtain Total Noise, DC Offset, and Sercel Noise,
b) Instrument Distortion: to obtain Total Distortion,
c) Instrument Gain/Phase: to obtain Gain Error and Phase Error, and finally,
d) Instrument Common mode: to obtain the Common Mode Rejection Ration
(CMRR).
Complete pre-startup Geophone Test: by SGT-II (or SGT-200) designed for
Sercel GS-5 and GS-10 Geophone units (commonly used worldwide). The Test
checks at once all available Geophones’ Strings to guarantee their efficiency.
Data are retrieved into SMTAN2-257 Software “Courtesy of Mr. Ian Vincent”
to obtain:
a) Noise,
b) Resistance,
c) Frequency,
d) Damping,
e) Sensitivity,
f) Distortion,
g) Impedance, and
h) Temperature.
In order to reject the defecated strings that matches out of acceptance range
determined by fabricant.
Random monthly Geophone Test: by SGT-II (or SGT-200) electing a random
sample of Geophone strings to be checked as explained previously.
If required, Megger ohmmeter tester is applied.
2) Record follow up since pre-plotting to final data delivery:
Mainly the record follow up consists in:
Pre-plot statistical analysis to secure matching intervals and azimuth as well as
line continuity.
Post-plot statistical analysis to secure azimuth maintenance and line continuity
and to guarantee the acceptance variation from pre-plotted position and interval.
In case of explosives, the holes’ depths are checked and registered.
Production revision is done using SLX2 software “Courtesy of Mr. Ian
Vincent”.
A quick revision is done on SEGD files using SeisSee package (free
distribuited).
After record; noise, frequency, phase, polarity, and geometry are checked to
certify whether it attends the contractual specifications or not (Processing
Software to be defined by operator).
A rejection depends on restricted demand by operator.
3) Data delivery preparation:
Once all data are accepted and a Brute Stack is presented by contractors’
technicians (also depends on operator demands), data are prepared to be
delivered to Processing Center for that we check (Headers are checked using
SeisSee free distributed software):
a) Auxiliary Files,
b) Observer Reports,
c) SPS files, and
d) SEGD files in headers format defined by operator.
Data are recorded on Digital Media agreed between operator and contractor
within last accepted version of data.
4) Reporting and follow-up:
All previous steps are always maintained easy to follow up by operator in spatial
mapping and database. And reports are issued in accordance to operator demand (could
be daily, weekly, monthly, or all).
