SUNDAY 5 MAY

Fete Plant Stall Make the most of this beautiful

weather and get into your garden. We would love any unwanted plants for our Fete Plant Stall.

Bring them to 2B before the Fete

for us to sell. Happy gardening!

SOLAR BOAT RACES Grade 6 students were involved in their annual Solar Boat Races. Approximately 40 boats raced last week.

Fortunately, the clouds kept away, so that all the boats could travel the length of the pool, powered by solar

energy. This year’s winners were Darcy Butler and Alex Everitt, whose boat, ‘Need for Speed’, travelled the

10 metre pool in a record time of 12.6 seconds. A big thank you to all the families who dropped off soft drink

bottles. Not only was I able to make 40 boats this year, but I now have enough bottles to build boats for next

year’s races.

Lucky Jars 2S will be running the ‘Lucky Jars’ stall at the Fete on Sunday 5th May. We are

looking for donations to fill jars or jars already filled. Examples could be lollies,

Easter eggs, jam, toys etc. Be creative! Use your imagination! Customers pay $3,

take a ticket and win the jar with the corresponding number. Donated items can be

dropped off to 2S’s classroom or the Office. Please contact Tayla Stanley if you have

any questions.

We will also be having some lolly bags on the day and will be looking for donations

to go towards these also. Any donations and help will be greatly appreciated. Thank

you.

Please share

the ‘SHPS

Fete’ event

on Facebook with

friends & family.

This awesome day is

open to our whole

community!

This week all over Australia people are celebrating Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.

It’s a day where activities and celebrations help us to learn and understand how people of different backgrounds live together

and make Australia a great place to live.

HARMONY DAY CELEBRATIONS

The message of Harmony Day is …. Everyone Belongs!

We have families who belong to our school, who have come from many different countries. We strive to make our school a welcoming and safe place for every student and family.

At Assembly Essa from India, Sophia from Vietnam and Thinaya from Sri Lanka shared their migration stories with us.

At Lunchtime we had fun in the Courtyard making Chinese Dragon Puppets and Chatterboxes.

We all have a story on how we came to live in the great community of Swan Hill.

This week is a great week to talk about that story with your children.
