A rare opportunityEntering its 18th year, Leadership Glendale offers a rare opportunity to interact with manyof the city’s leaders from government, businessand organizations. Classes are small, 15 to 20members, and meet on an average of once eachmonth from October to May.

Issues affecting the city are an integral partof the curriculum, which also encourages self-development, builds upon management andleadership skills, and expands networking contacts. Exclusive VIP tours of locations notusually available to the public also are offered.

Leadership graduates are:• Better informed about issues that affect the community. • In a position to increase their effectivenesswithin in their business, profession and/or organization.• Motivated to contribute their time andknowledge to benefit the community.

Participants benefit by:• Greater understanding of the inner workingsof Glendale, issues affecting the city, and howto address local problems.• Interacting with key leaders from many segments of the community.• Joining a diverse network of local contactsand collegial relationships.• Leadership training and experiences thatsupport personal and professional growth.• Applying leadership skills through a publicservice class project.

SELECTION CRITERIAClass members will:• Take full advantage of the curriculum bytheir attendance, involvement and active participation in program activities.• Possess high standards of personal integrityand ethics.• Work successfully with classmates and others involved in addressing issues affectingthe community.• Following graduation use the informationand skills acquired in the program to benefit and/or support the community. • Live and/or work in the Glendale area. • Not be seeking public office prior to the beginning of the first class.

Reception and orientation: Friday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2013 (4 -5:30 p.m.)Wednesday classes: 2013 — Oct. 23, Nov. 6 &13; Dec. 11; 2014 — Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 12,April 9 & May 14.

Project planning timeline is decided by the class.Optional extra activities also may be offered andare announced well in advance.

Class hours: Usually 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.Curriculum: Interactive leadership/managementseminars, discussions with leaders from local government, education, business and organiza-tions, plus field trips. Subjects include Glendale government, law enforcement, fire protection,healthcare, transportation, education, social services, retail business, media, arts, local historyand demographics. The class selects a project that benefits a segment of the community. Eachgraduate is recognized with a diploma.

Tuition, application deadlinesPreferred (discount) tuition — $1,000. Application must be received at the Chamber by Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.Standard tuition — $1,200. Application deadline is Friday, October 11, 2013.

All applications must be accompanied by a $200deposit. Checks, VISA or MasterCard accepted.Applicants representing a charitable, non-profitorganization may be considered for a $300 scholarship applied to the standard $1,200 tuition. See the Leadership Glendale applicationfor further information.
