What is GOLD? Greater Ozarks Leadership Development (GOLD) is a regional leadership development program designed for public, private, nonprofit, and civic community leaders in southwest Missouri. It is becoming increasingly important for community leaders to look beyond the boundaries of their individual home towns to the region as a whole. Effective leadership for the 21 st century demands a regional understanding of, and approach to, issues. Based on the principal that the quality of life and future growth of our region depends on our ability to find common ground and work together, GOLD will: Develop personal and professional friendships with fellow GOLD class members and with GOLD alumni. Expand your network of regional contacts as we explore southwest Missouri. Further develop your understanding of community development best-practices. Enhance your leadership skills. Profile southwest Missouri and introduce you to local leaders as we explore a different regional community each month. Provide a forum for discussion of important regional issues like workforce development, education, economic development, transportation, funding, etc. Explore Jefferson City during a day trip to capitol visit in March. SESSION DATES FOR 2017 – 2018 CLASS

Classes will meet monthly, on the 1st Wednesday of the month, at locations throughout the region, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Class XI dates are: Oct 4, Nov 1, Dec 6, Jan 10, Feb 7, March 7(Capitol Visit; official date set once legislative break is scheduled), April 4, May 2, June 7 (Banquet/

Graduation Dinner). Session days will cover topics such as Economic Development, Funding Resources, Education, Workforce Development, Infrastructure, Quality of Life, Leadership Skills, and Communications.

REQUIREMENTS

A. Tuition

Tuition is $795 which includes lodging for the overnight session in Jefferson City plus all session meals and class materials. If cost is an issue but you want to participate, please contact the program coordinator about scholarships. Application is due September 20, 2017.

B. Attendance

You will be expected to attend every session. However, if unavoidable, you will be allowed one absence with prior approval of the program coordinator. Those participants who attend seven of the eight class sessions will be awarded a GOLD graduation certificate.

COMMITMENT

If selected, I am willing to attend all sessions and devote the necessary time to be a contributing member of the GOLD class.
