Fall Quilt Retreat

I hope you have your

space reserved and your

Holiday Inn Matteson for

the 2016 Fall Quilt

Retreat. It’s going to be

the best Retreat yet!!!

Bring the projects you

need to finish, your comfy

clothes to relax in, and

prepare to have a

wonderful time with like-

minded friends, new and

old. Laura will be giving

massages, there will be

drawings for prizes, a

ruler presentation by

Pam, a free project, a

game time one night, and

discounts at Top Shelf

Quilts.

We currently have 38

spaces filled and can take

5 or 6 more. I have also

expanded the number of

rooms at the hotel that

are available to attendees

for $89 a night. If you

have any questions please

give the shop a call. For

those of you who have put

down the initial deposit of

$95, the balance of $80 is

due by October 10th.

Illiana Shop Hop

This was the best year

yet for the Illiana Shop

Hop. With a total of 12

stores this year,

participants got to

experience a wider variety

of shops while traveling

parts of Eastern Illinois

and Western Indiana. Top

Shelf Quilts will be

participating again in the

2017 Illiana Shop Hop. The

Shop Hop theme for 2017

is “Illiana through the

Year”. The final Shop Hop

Quilt result will be 12

blocks, one for each month.

We will be auctioning off

our 2016 Illiana quilt

(Town & Country). The

quilt is currently hanging

in the Picwick Society Tea

Room in Frankfort, but will

be back around October

24th. The drawing will be

in December.

Midnight Clear Block

of the Month

Start collecting fabric now for a different twist

on a Block of the Month class! Starting in

January, we will meet for an hour or two each

month for six months to cut, construct and learn

about stars. Tips, tricks and tools, too! The

BOM” quilt in Sherri Falls book, Holiday

“Asteria”

Block of the Month! The Asteria Block of the Month starts on Saturday, October

8th at 9:30. This BOM sample is currently hanging in our

classroom and is absolutely gorgeous. You only need 4

fabrics to create this masterpiece. This is an 8 month BOM,

meeting on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Every month

you will receive an Asteria block pattern to make one or

more blocks for the BOM. The unique thing about this BOM

is that each of the 8 different Blocks comes with its own quilt

patterns made from that individual block. The end result is

that you end up with the Asteria BOM quilt plus 8

additional quilt patterns (and their variations). The final

size of this BOM is 106” x 106”.

To participate in this BOM you need to purchase your fabric

for this BOM at TSQ.

fabric.

Fall Woven Snowflake Ornaments w/Barb Z Here it is! Join us to create fun-to-make, no sewing-needed, fabric snowflake ornaments. (These are the ornaments that have been hanging in the shop for each season this year. (They aren’t just for Christmas any more.) Needle and Thread Stitchers

Do you love to do hand stitching? If so, join the

“Needle and Thread Stitchers” at Top Shelf

Quilts. Bring your latest appliqué, embroidery, or

hand quilting project. We all love to do quilt-related

hand stitching with our friends! Come and sew with

those old friends and at the same time make some

new ones. We meet at the shop the first

Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. This is not

a class, but a social sewing bee for those of us who

love to stitch by hand. See you there - No cost!!

Operation Care Package Sewing for

Our Troops: Gift Bags/Shower

Bags/Christmas Stockings w/Pam S

Join Top Shelf Quilts in helping Operation Care

Package by sewing for our troops. We will be sewing

3 different packing items. Operation Care Package

will then fill each with necessary items and ship

them to our deployed troops.

Complete kits are ready for you at the shop and will

be there through the end of the year. Each kit will

include instructions and materials and can easily be

completed on your own.

OR

You are invited to an Operation Care Package sew

day at TSQ. Bring your machine and sewing tools.

Stay a couple of hours or stay all day. We will have

kits, mats and irons, etc for your use those days and

we will be serving snacks, lunch and Chocolate!

Join us as we have fun together and say “Thank You”

to all those serving our country.
