OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - collection week will be here before we know
it. We want as many children as possible to hear the gospel through these
shoeboxes, so we will be collecting items throughout
2020 to prepare for our packing party in the fall. In
February we will be collecting stuffed animals and love
-themed items, which may be placed in the container
in the lobby today or next Sunday. Remember, the
items must be able to fit into a shoebox. If you have
any questions, please see Holly Parish, Jim Nofsinger
or Pastor James.

The 2020 Mercer County Hunger Challenge will be held Sat. & Sun.,
March 28-29, in the JCBC gymnasium. During this two-day event, 1,000
volunteers will come together in two-hour shifts to assemble 216,000
meals in packages of nutritious dehydrated food product to ship direct-
ly to starving families and orphans in South Sudan. Online registration
is now open! You may also register today at the table in the lobby.
WE ARE OFFERING TWO OPPORTUNITIES - for adult mission trips this year!
The first one will be to France to serve with the Richardsons and their church
July 3-11, and the second will be to Romania to team up with the Borgards
from September 27—October 4. If you are interested in the trip to France,
please contact Jim Simmons ASAP at 304-920-0175. There will be a meeting
about the Romania trip on March 1 in the Conference Room.
WORSHIP MINISTRY MEETING - Daniel Pennington would like to invite
anyone that is currently involved with – or interested in – the worship
ministry here at Johnston Chapel (musicians, vocalists, sound and
projection technicians) to a meeting/training session today in the
Auditorium immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. This meeting
will cover information that everyone will need moving forward, so please
attend as you are able. CHAPEL 201 - the second discipleship class at Johnston
Chapel, will introduce you to how we grow in Christ and
challenge you to get connected to a growth group at
JCBC. It will be taught by Pastor Dan this Wednesday from
6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. Please sign up today
at the Welcome Center.
WELCOME - Brian & Kerri Redding of Framework Family Ministries, who led our
Family Conference this weekend! They will be doing an open Q&A session in
the Fellowship Hall at 9:15 a.m. for anyone who would like to attend, and
Brian will be leading our worship during the 10:30 a.m. service.
OUR FEBRUARY MISSIONS OFFERING - today, will go to
help our supported missionaries, Jim and Helen Alexander
with AWANA, with their support and ministry travels. It
will also go to help Dr. Anne Livingston, who serves with
Baptist World Mission, with her ministry travels and
expenses until she is able to return to Haiti.
DOLLYWOOD FLOWER & FOOD FEST - a D.M.A. Fellowship 3-day tour, will be
Tuesday – Thursday. May 19-21, for all senior adults age 55+. Complete details
and cost can be found at the Information Center. Reservations can be made
with Jim Nofsinger, brought to the church office during normal hours, or left in
an envelope at the office drop box. Please make checks payable to Johnston
Chapel.
DR. MIRIAM WHEELER - gave two books as a gift to the church. The first is
titled, Tales from Logs: Flight Logs Tell True Adventures of Missionary Pilots,
and it is a children’s resource on missions. The second is titled, Port of Two
Brothers: The Amazing Story of Two Missionary Brothers and Their Work on
the Field, and it is a missions resource for teens and adults. Please remember
to make use of these resources and others in our church library.
ABEL PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTER - is in need of one or more RDMS
personnel with experience in limited obstetrical
ultrasound, to volunteer for a minimum of 3 hours/week.
Solid 26-year mission in the Bluefield, WV community.
Training provided for client-advocate interaction. For
questions, call 304-887-8698. All interested, please
submit resume to [email protected].
WHEN BORROWING A RESOURCE FROM OUR LIBRARY - please be sure to
put your name and the date on the card in the front of the book (or on the
back of the DVD, etc.), and leave the card on the counter for our
librarians. If you are not a member of the church, please include your
phone number also. If you accidentally take the card home with you, be
sure it is with the item when you return it to the library.
