What’s Working NowJuly 2016
Profiting From Pinterest Traffic
Pinterest By Numbers• 100 million monthly users
• 2 million people pin products per day!
• 93% of Pinterest users use the platform to plan purchases (unlike Facebook, where users rarely visit to purchase something)
• Orders can be made DIRECTLY from Pinterest (and ordering is increasing)
• Average Pinterest order is over $50 (higher than any other major social media platform)
Pinterest By Numbers• Annual household income is $100,000+
• Average time spent on Pinterest is 15.8 minutes (FB is 12, Youtube is 16)
• 68% of Pinterest users are women (some sources say it’s higher)
• Pinterest results in MORE referral traffic than LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube combined (Pinterest is designed to be a “lead in” -> users then go to the original site of the pin)
• Number of pinners has DOUBLED in the last 18 months.

Is Pinterest Right For You?• Pinterest is about IMAGES and SHAREABLE
products… so you need to have images (or content) that people would want to share!
• Most niches CAN work with Pinterest…
• You need to think of Pinterest as building a COMMUNITY, not just relentless promotion of your product(s)
• Build a following in your niche, and then exploit that to sell more products and get more exposure.
Pinterest Categories
What If You Have Just ONE Product?• It’s not really a case of how many products you have,
but how well suited your niche is.
• If you sell beauty creams, then I would DEFINITLEY recommend you get involved in Pinterest…
• If you sell wooden rulers… then maybe not (although you COULD still do very well with the ‘arts and crafts’ angle)
• If you sell a scientific thermometer… then maybe not.
IF PEOPLE WHO BUY YOUR PRODUCTS ARE ON
PINTEREST, THEN YOU PROBABLY SHOULD BE TOO.
Is It Worth Your Time?My priority list would be:
1. Get a product selling well (ie on Amazon)
2. Build a VIP list (email list)
3. Build an eCommerce Store
4. Build a Facebook community
THEN look at these types of ‘Bolt On’ strategies
• Alternative places to invest time/money include YouTube, Instagram, Media Buys, Retargeting, etc)
