Data updates and improvements

• Update of all primary energy carrier and electricity mixes (e. g. crude oil,

natural gas, lignite and hard coal…),

• Harmonization and update of steel, deionised water, DE waste incineration,

heat pumps, particles from sand & quartz mining, etc. etc.

• Update of metal prices used in allocation of ore-to-metal value chains,

update of renewables prices

• Correcting identified data errors

• Improved documentation across all GaBi databases

All datasets in all GaBi databases consistently upgraded and updated !

• ReCiPe updated from ReCiPe 2016 to ReCiPe 2016 v1.1:

• PM/Resp. Inorganics: Secondary particles included, with relevant

increase for GaBi datasets in PM impacts (+5 to +500%)

• Marine EP: added by method developers

• Terr. Ecotox: corrected by method developers (emissions to urban soil

excluded), Human non-cancer changed due to error-correction by

ReCiPe method developers

• USEtox updated from version 2.01 to version 2.1: model updated by method

developers, leading for GaBi datasets to changes typically +- a few %, but up

to +-40% found in few cases

• LANCA® land use: error correction by the method developers of partly double

counted land use, with big (around -80%) reduction in GaBi datasets’ land use

impacts

• Odour potential: new LCIA method added, originally developed from

Chalmers University

• Continue working with GaBi as normal (on other database)

• Start more than one database update in parallel

• You will see a window with a progress bar

for every running update
