A perfect introduction to the addictive craft of willow weaving, making willow hoops and hearts to take away. £15pp
Sun 31 January– Sat 15 October 2015Death at a DistanceWe look at the development of artillery warfare from the bows and arrows of the ancient world to the machine guns and heavy artillery of the First World War. We also consider the psychological and physical impact of these weapons of death.
Fri 16 October 2015– Thurs 19 May 2016 War, what is it good for?As the song says ‘absolutely nothing’. But is that true? As horrific as war is, are lessons learnt? A small exhibition that explores some of the positive as well as negative things that might never have happened if we hadn’t gone to war.

Pre-dating Christmas, Saturnalia celebrates the return of the sun. Join us for this winter festival to discover the traditions we still follow today, plus some food, fun and fighting!
Sat 31 October, 6–8pm Hallowe’en
Celebrate the best night of the year as we play games and make crafts, with a prize fancy dress competition. It’s marvellous, magical mayhem! £3pp
Sat 22–Sun 23 August, 10am–5pm Romans vs Celts
The two sides set up camp in the Museum garden and you vote for the winning team. Explore Roman and Celtic crafts, let our Roman doctor tend to fake wounds, join
the marching, make a shield, have a go at basket-weaving and slap on the war paint like a Celt. £3pp, under 3s free.
Camp open 10am–5pm. Celtic displays 11.30am & 1pm. Roman displays 12pm & 1.30pm. Final skirmish 3pm, voting 12.30–2.30pm.
