The CAT Enterprise Development team is continually working towards meeting the needs of our clients. Update 1.4 includes several new features and enhancements that have improved the functionality and efficiency of CAT Enterprise. Click on the links below to jump to a specific feature’s overview:

Export Development Data Improvements The Export Development Data report has been improved with new options, including the ability to report all the way down to the Skill level. The report output has also been changed from Crystal Reports to an Excel format. This means that once you have exported and opened your report in Excel, you can manipulate and customize the data in any way that best suits your organization’s needs. Below you can see the completely new Options Selections page in the Reports Wizard:

Gap Analysis and Activity Profile Excel Report Enhancements Both the Gap Analysis and Activity Profile Excel reports have been enhanced, giving you more options to work with and better graphical layouts. New Worksheets in the Gap Analysis Excel Report Two new worksheets are now included in the Gap Analysis Excel report. The Assessment Percent worksheet is similar to the Assessment Status report, and the Gap Analysis Percent worksheet is similar to the Gap Analysis report Numeric option—these worksheets gives you the opportunity to take the data and manipulate and configure it any way you want directly in your pivot table.

Layout and Design Changes Graphical changes to both the Gap Analysis Excel and the Activity Profile Excel reports have made viewing and manipulating the data in your pivot charts simpler and easier.

The chart colors are now consistent with the assessment colors in the CAT Enterprise application. The legend has been moved below the chart data, and there is now more whitespace in between

legend items for a cleaner layout. The chart style has been improved for readability.

Below you can see a before and after of the chart changes in the Activity Profile Excel report—these same graphical changes also apply to the Gap Analysis Excel report.

Additional Permissions for the Administrator Role Previously, only System Owners could manage Administrator roles—now, CAT Enterprise 1.4 gives Administrators and Reporters more flexibility by allowing them to manage and report on other Administrators. Three new permission values are available for Administrator roles: Can Supervise & Report on peer Administrators Can Supervise & Report on subordinate Administrators

These permission values allow Administrators to supervise and report on other Administrators within the Groups they see. Below you can see that when both these permissions are enabled for Administrators, they see both peer and subordinate Administrators. When only one of these permissions is enabled, they will only see either peer or subordinate Administrators.

Can View Administrators Now there is a permission that makes it easier for Administrators to manage other Administrators within the Activity, Map, and Position Administration Areas. This new permission value allows Administrators to not only view other Administrators, but it also allows them to easily modify roles for other Administrators.

With this permission turned on, you can see how this Administrator can see other Administrators in the Map Administration tree in the image below:

One new permission value is available for Reporters: Can report on Administrators This permission value allows Reporters to report on the Administrators that belong to their assigned Groups.

When a Reporter has this permission, they can select Administrators as well as exclude Administrators from the People Selection page in the Report Wizard:

Permissions to Supervise and Report on Peer and Subordinate Roles For example, below you can see the three different ways a Supervisor will see other Supervisors in his/her Assigned Groups tree, depending on the selected permissions:

Can Supervise & Report on peer Supervisors The Supervisor only sees other Supervisors at an equal level.

New permission values now give managers the flexibility of supervising and reporting on other peer and subordinate management roles. These permissions are available for the Supervisor, Mentor, and Administrator roles.

Can Supervise & Report on subordinate Supervisors The Supervisor only sees other Supervisors at Subordinate levels.

Filter Enhancements in the Gap Analysis and Activity Profile A few enhancements to the filtering options in Gap Analysis and Activity Profile have made it quicker and easier for identifying recommended Development Activities. In the Gap Analysis Recommended Development Activities dialog, you now have the option of viewing All of the best Development Activities. And, when you choose a filter, your filtering options will be saved during your current session. This means that you can switch between the Gap Analysis and Activity Profile without losing your chosen filtering options.

In the Gap Analysis, you can see that ‘All’ is now an option

from the ‘Select the best’ dropdown menu, and ‘Work

Experience’ has been chosen as a filter.

When you switch to the Activity Profile, the chosen filter is

retained and vice versa.

10 CAT Enterprise 1.4 Features

Position Assignment Administrators can now edit assigned Positions easier than ever with the new Position Assignment feature. This new tab is easily accessible in Group Management. How Position Assignment Works: When you select a Group from the Assigned Groups tree, the Position Assignment tab will display a search bar, a list of the Group members, and a list of the Positions assigned to those Group members. From here, you can easily remove assigned Positions, reassign Positions, and search for new Positions for assignment. Changes are saved automatically, and when you’re done, you can easily click on another Group in the tree for quick Position editing.

The Position Assignment tab is controlled by the Edit Position Assignment permission. It is enabled for Administrators by default, and it is also available to the Supervisor and Mentor roles.

General Enhancements This update of CAT Enterprise also includes many enhancements to improve the overall performance and ease-of-use of the application.

Report Summary Page Cleanup The report summary page has been improved for a simpler, easier-to-read layout. Most notably, the Person Selection section now only lists the top Group name, instead of listing the names of every Person assigned to the Group. These changes apply to both the Crystal Reports and Excel format Summary pages. Individual Person and Group Limitations for the Activity Profile, Competency Inventory, and Gap Analysis Reports You are now able to limit the amount of people you can report on individually for each of the Activity Profile, Competency Inventory, and Gap Analysis reports. This change gives managers more flexibility in managing each of these three types of reports. Performance Improvements for Non-System Owners In the Position Administration, performance for the Assignment Details has been improved—using this area is now faster and more efficient. Report Sub Header Change in Activity Profile, Competency Inventory, and Gap Analysis Reports The report name as well as the date & time the report was generated has been moved to an easy-to-read sub-header position at the top of the Activity Profile, Competency Inventory, and Gap Analysis reports. Removal of Non-Editable Properties Non-editable properties have been removed for a cleaner layout: Order for Skill Group & Skill in the Map Administration and Activity ID Property in the Activity Administration.
