• Spearhead HK’s efforts to attract and retain foreign direct investment
• Promote HK’s enduring advantages and status as a leading business hub in the region
• Assist companies with potential to contribute to HK’s economy to set up and expand in HK
• Provide aftercare support to the international business community in HK
• Work with policy bureaux and departments on issues of concern to investors to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness as a business-friendly location
Mission and Objectives2
• Brings new employment opportunities, technologies, ideas, skills and in other spill-over effects
• Foreign companies increase level of competition and improve an economy’s overall competitiveness
• Hong Kong’s inward direct investment stock as ratio to GDP was 287% in 2000 and 527% in 2013(Source: HKSAR Government statistics)
• 19% of Hong Kong’s total workforce is employed by majority owned FDI companies(Source: The Foreign Affiliates Trade in Services Statistics – FATS 2010: June 2012, by C&SD)
