PROGRAMMES ORGANISED FOR P3 PUPILS – TERM 1

The school strives to provide our pupils with a holistic education through a range of

programmes and activities which encourages them to explore and discover their interests and

passions. Through developing their interests and passions, we hope to kick-start their life-long

journey of learning and become effective and confident communicators who will contribute

back to the society.

Our P3 pupils can look forward to the following level programmes in Term 1.

We would also like to invite you to join us for our annual School-Parents Engagement and

Communication Session (SPECS). Through this programme, it would provide you with a better

understanding of school’s programmes and the classroom learning experiences which your

child would enjoy in school. Please indicate your attendance in Annex B and return it via your

child.

ANNEX A White Sands Primary School

Summary of Programmes for Primary 3 – Term 1

NLB Books 2 Go

Dates: 18 and 19 February 2019

Time: 8.15 a.m. – 2.15 p.m.

The National Library Board will be holding a 2-day mass borrowing exercise where your child

can borrow books from a wide array of titles. Do encourage your child to develop the habit of

reading by participating in this programme. Your child would need to bring along his / her

student pass for this programme.

Cost: No payment required.

Home-Based Learning (HBL) Readiness Exercise Date: 16 March to 24 March (Term 1 School Holiday) The objectives of HBL are to provide opportunities for pupils to cultivate independent learning

strategies and to ensure that pupils can still be engaged in learning during a school closure

due to emergencies.

As preparation for the upcoming HBL exercise, pupils will be accessing the Student Learning

Space (https://vle.learning.moe.edu.sg) at home to identify any issues they may encounter.

Pupils will be briefed by their C4RE teachers on the procedures for the readiness exercise.

This exercise will take no more than 30 minutes for pupils to complete. We seek parents’

support on the above and in making alternative arrangements for your child to access the

portal if he/she does not have a computer with Internet connection at home.
