Tell us why Dorm Room Fund should invest in your company. What should we know in order to make our decision? Creativity counts! AgoraSol did not come together as a group of friends trying to find fun project to work in our spare time. It was the business idea itself that connected us. While we were friends and knew each other beforehand, we came together genuinely drawn by the strength of a common theme developed and tested in three separate corners of global educational system: Stanford campus, Wharton campus and Rio de Janeiro’s FGV campus. The ensuing Stanford-Wharton hybrid is an interesting mix with a chance to produce results that have not been replicated in Brazilian energy sector, yet. Make no mistake: residential rooftop solar is not your standard mobile gaming market opportunity. Brazilian residential solar has an over 40 billion dollar market potential, which has been neglected and missed despite solar boom elsewhere around the world. Given the recent market changes, we believe we are entering at the right time and the time to fund the venture is now. Besides the fundamental strength of the idea, the team has truly complementary skills. We have our experienced manager; we have our venture finance guy; we have our crazy developers who spent their summers in Uganda, Colombia and other typical summer job destinations; we have our marketing geek. With the idea and the robust founding team, we believe we can attract interest of some extremely talented people in Brazil who would propel the company forward. Most importantly, the team is adventurous, entrepreneurial, excited and ready to commit to a risky venture. Peter is rejecting his VC offers and moving his entire family (wife, 2 year old son, 3 month old son) to Brazil to pursue the opportunity full-time. Likewise, other team members are enduring similar choices and avoiding lucrative jobs to chase an uncertain dream. If you fund us, we promise to try our best to dive in and prove our hypothesis. We might belly flop in the end but it will not be due to lack of team commitment and trying.
