• The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are:– facilitating cooperation in international law– international security– economic development– social progress– human rights, and – achievement of world peace

The United Nations (2)

• The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries, and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions.

• There are currently 193 member states, including every internationally recognised sovereign state in the world but the Vatican City.

What has the UN achieved?

• According to Wikipedia there are some 23 wars taking place in the world right now

• There has not been any time when the world has been at peace during the existence of the UN

• It is estimated that as many as 6 million people may have died in the Vietnam War alone (1955-1975)

Why is it like this?

• Is it just a question of time?

• Is it a question of the right leadership?

• Has some thing got to radically change?

• What does God have to say about our situation?

Delivering the UN Charter

When will this be?
