CASE STUDY• Large Pharmaceutical

Manufacturing Facility • On site 3 MW Turbine• Turbine required to power the plant

and reduce energy costs

We conducted a transient and dynamic stability study at the facility. The harmonic analysis and modelling of the transformer inrush conditions helped verify compliance of the wind turbine power output with the grid code. The fault ride through study evaluated the ability of the turbine to ride through the various fault cases that may result at the grid connection point. Premium Power commissioned the turbine and integrated a power monitoring and control system. The turbine is currently in operation and significantly reducing the plant’s energy costs.

CASE STUDY• Mid-sized windfarm, Ireland• 13 No. 850kW turbines onsite• Electrical fire at wind farm site

Premium Power were requested to provide consultancy on this windfarm to examine the harmonic issues affecting the performance of the windfarm. Our specialist engineers conducted a study to determine the nature of the harmonic problem. This was ultimately determined to be a system resonance issue and a harmonic filter solution was ultimately specified.

CASE STUDY• Northern Irish based windfarm• 20MW capacity• Filter required to mitigate against harmonic resonance

Premium Power designed and successfully commissioned a passive harmonic filter (C-Filter) connected to the MV distribution of the 20MW windfarm. The purpose of the filter was to mitigate against resonance and amplification of harmonics, due to large amount of underground cables installed within the wind farm network. Commissioning involved equipment inspections, validation of calculations through measurements and setup of protection devices.
