BEAUTIFUL.The Marvin® Family of Brands has always been committed to creating quality

window and door products. As a company with a strong family legacy, we

take the safety of our customer and their family seriously. Windows in a home

should bring light, fresh air and a view. But, it’s important to recognize that window

screens are only intended to keep bugs out, not prevent a potential fall.

We o er several windows within our Family of Brands that have our factory-applied Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs). Properly used WOCDs may help prevent potential window falls, especially in children under five years of age. And as always, we encourage you to check with local building codes to ensure your windows operate within the standards needed for safety.

WINDOW SAFETY.

Our Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs) meet the ASTM F2090-10 standard, a code created to assist in the prevention of window falls in children under five years old. To meet the standard, our devices limit the window’s net clear opening to 4" or less when the sash is opened and have a release function allowing the window to fully open. In order to meet the safety standard, WOCD disengagement takes two independent actions which helps prevent accidental release. Devices will then automatically re-engage once the window is closed and again limit the window opening to 4".

ESSENTIAL IN ANY HOME.Remember the following when considering a WOCD or child window safety in general:

• Lock windows when not in use if children are present.

• Make sure there isn’t furniture near open windows.

• Teach children the dangers of climbing out or jumping from windows.

• Never rely on insect screens to prevent a potential fall.

The Marvin® Family of Brands is committed to safety and reminds all homeowners to check local codes regarding egress and WOCDs. For more information on window safety, contact the National Safety Council or visit their website at www.nsc.org.
