HUNCH Hygiene Kits Heading to Space

The US Hygiene Kits that were designed and prototyped by HUNCH students from Oak Ridge High School Fashion Design under the instruction of Mrs. Darlene Parson, with feedback from crew members, are on the way to space. These kits will be used in lieu of the former Russian Comfort Kits for crew provisions.

ROTC Cadets Spend Spring Break in Washington, D.C.

Night 1: Visit the National Harbor for dinner, Ferris wheel rides and photo ops: Day 2: Visit US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Arlington National Cemetery for changing of the guard, and the US Air Force Memorial Day 3: White House Tour and Air and Space Museum Day 4: Joint Base Andrew

Tour where we visited the base honor guard and the military working dogs then the Law Enforcement Museum Day 5: Raised the Flags at Mt. Vernon then toured property, National Archives and American History Museum Day 6: Visit the US Capitol and National Cathedral before departing.

Liberty Belles

The Liberty Belles competed at Moody Gardens in Galveston in the American Dance/Drill Team competition on March 1-2. The team was awarded a Sweepstakes for receiving Division 1 ratings in three routines and a Gussie Nell Davis for receiving a score of 90 or more from every judge on every routine. They received Judge’s Awards for outstanding contemporary and jazz routines. They earn a Dreibrodt for excellence in military. They won Outstanding Team Choreography and Presentation. They placed 2nd runner up in the Super XL Team division.

The officers were awarded a Sweepstakes for receiving Division 1 ratings in three routines. They received Judge’s Awards for outstanding jazz and lyrical routines. They won Best Officer Precision. They were named 2nd runner up in the Officer Super XL division. The Dance Troupe was 2nd runner up the medium ensemble division. The duet of West/ West was 3rd runner up duet.

Congratulations to all the Liberty Belles on such a successful season!

Please join the Liberty Belles, Oak Ridge Dance, ETB and the Irons Liberty Stars for their final performances of the season. Spring Show will be in the Auditorium at ORHS on Saturday, April 6 at 7 pm. Spectators will be $5. Come out for a wonderful evening of Dance!

ORHS Athlete Goes to State for Powerlifting

During Spring Break, on March 16th, Angelina Sahagun (pictured left) competed at the Girls State Powerlifting Meet in Waco. Angelina finished 12th in the 198 class for 6A girls. She finished with a total of 820 pounds and a personal record for bench at 190 pounds. Congratulations Angelina!

Debate

Three students attended the Texas Forensic Association State Meet over spring break last week. Sameeer Ali competed in Original Oratory and Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Kirby Cabler competed in Lincoln Douglas Debate and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking and Laila Hammad competed in Congressional Debate. Congrats to Sameer for being a quarter finalist in Foreign Extemporaneous speaking! The state meet is comprised of only the top students from around the state who had to qualify in each event in order to attend. Breaking to quarters is an amazing feat and the debate team is very proud of Sameer for his accomplishment.

Fine Arts Friday

Fine Arts Friday's are coming to a pit near you!

Why: Student Council has identified a need for students to show appreciation for various clubs on campus that are doing great things. They are hoping to build camaraderie and pride among ORHS students. Chick-fil-A has partnered with Stu Co and plans to help. We are hoping to get a the press involved to showcase all the goodness here at The Ridge 😊

Who: Student Council, Lake Woodlands CFA, and Fine Arts clubs (see schedule below) What: Fine Arts Friday's will be a mini performance of various fine art groups with light snacks for students to enjoy while they watch. Where: The Pit! When: Friday mornings in February and March between 6:45-7:10

March 26th - Lone Star Honors College is coming during Eagle’s Nest. Sign up in Naviance if you’re interested in coming to their presentation. April 3rd- Junior Jumpstart- College Park HS 6:30pm. Round robin sessions on all you need to know for your senior year. April 3rd during lunch periods- College Fair with over 20 colleges and universities. April 10- Letting Your Kids Fly for Senior parents! 6:30pm MPR. This is an informal workshop will help parents see the importance of letting their children experience set-backs and handle difficult situations on their own. It also includes information from college professors on what skills are most beneficial for success in college. April 10-Daytime student panel for seniors EN-MPR- Seniors will have the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from current college freshman and sophomores about the transition into college. On Campus Parking

All on campus parking spots have been assigned. If your child did not receive a parking spot on campus, they can purchase Woodforest Parking tags for $20 and park at the stadium. A shuttle bus will deliver them to and from school. Before any tag can be purchased, they must register online. All instructions are located on the ORHS website under “Student Parking”. Students can contact Ms. Baumann in A215 with any parking questions.

Food Deliveries to School Oak Ridge High School will not accept student lunch deliveries from a restaurant or from a delivery service such as "doordash." The only lunches that are accepted in the front office are those delivered by a parent or family member and should be picked up in the cafeteria at the Principal’s table during the student’s lunch period. Thank you for you cooperation.

To report an absence or tardy:

On the day of the student’s absence or tardy a parent or guardian may call the Senior Campus at 832-592-5433 or E-mail [email protected]

Call the Ninth Grade Campus at 281-465-5012. If you do not report the absence or tardy by phone on the day of absence a note from a parent or

guardian with a signature will be required. Returning students must take their signed notes to the attendance office before or after school or

during their lunch period.

Check In/Out Procedures:

All students must sign in and out through the attendance office. If a student driver needs to leave campus, a note including the name, date, time leaving and

parent signature and phone number is required. All notes to leave early must be taken to the attendance office the first thing in the morning. All guardians picking students up must present a photo ID upon signing their student out. If a person needs to pick up a student who is not on their pick-up list, the guardian may add them

using the Student Pick Up form located in the attendance office. (If the form is not signed at the attendance office, the guardian must have the form notarized.)

The Emergency Clinic form may not be used for pick up purposes due to HIPPA laws. The cut-off time for early pick-up is 2:15.
