PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS Parents of youth 17 and under who are staying
overnight in 4-H Housing MUST
– Prepare bottle and meds
– Complete separate authorization form
IF you need a form pick up at the registration table
– Hand off meds to staff or chaperone before loading
the bus
4-H Nursing staff will administer prescription
meds
– Quick relief and life-critical meds can stay with the
member (asthma meds, insulin, bee-sting)

All Participants: Buddy System – No one should be alone, look out for
each other. Groups of at least 3 & 4 would be great!!
When in doubt, wait with a Chaperone.
Follow all expectations of your parents/family and
chaperones. You all know what is right and what is
wrong.
State Fair Trips are a privilege, not a right; inappropriate
or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

Livestock & Participant
Loading: Wednesday, August 21st
– 7 a.m. - Bus and Trailers loading at Lewiston Sales-21241
Dutchman Crossing Road, Lewiston, MN 55952
– Bus and Trailers leaving as soon as everything is loaded please
be there early with your animals and tack so trucks and buses
are not waiting!

Livestock Encampment: Start each morning in your specie area and check-in with
Chaperones. Once duties are done (cleaning, feeding,
etc) a chaperone will dismiss you.
Check in with Chaperones throughout the day
Curfew is 11pm – Means in bunk and ready for
bed…does not mean walking through the
doors…Chaperones will check everyone in prior to lights
out.

Livestock Encampment: If placed in a hall that is off of the fairgrounds you will
receive gate passes from chaperones
We will not know the livestock encampment housing
location until the Tuesday before state fair.
Make sure to ride the bus with a friend or a chaperone
MAKE SURE to have a 4-H button when getting on the
bus
Livestock Interviews are required and will take place via
computer on campus from 8-2 on Thursday

Livestock Loading: Sunday, August 26th
– Livestock released (unknown what loadout “ring” we are yet.
Likely 3rd.) Typically it has been towards the end of the
afternoon.
– Everyone helps load trailers
– Bus will leave after trailers are loaded; chaperones will tell you
where to meet so everyone boards the bus that needs to be on
the bus!!!

with other area counties)

General Exhibits:• Monday, August 5th
• Exhibits being taken to State Fair by 4-H Staff must be in the
Winona County Extension Office no later than 4 pm
• Friday, September 6th
• Earliest projects can be retrieved from County Office
• Friday, September 20th
• All exhibits must be out of County Office

General Exhibits
Label all exhibits (pieces and boxes/bags)
with Name and County (for pieces also use
“1 of #” & “2 of #” etc)
Pack all exhibits in boxes or bags
appropriate for stacking and transit. But
nothing overly large for item.

General Exhibits:• The following General Exhibits travel with the 4-Her (up
and back)…Fruit - fresh fruit, Indoor & Flower Gardening - live plants,
Demonstration/Public Presentation supplies, Vegetable Gardening - fresh vegetables,
Food and Nutrition and Potatoes.
• Upon Arrival, you check-in at the 4-H Exhibit Office on the North
End of the 4-H Building.
• Upon Leaving, you check-out at the 4-H Exhibit Office on the
North End of the 4-H Building
• Check schedule for orientation and judging times
• State Fair Conference judging happens in small groups

– All Oversized Exhibits need to be delivered to 4-H Building on
State Fairgrounds
– North End – Check in with Exhibit Office (window on north end
as well)

Animal Exhibitors:
Bring animal registration papers with you (if applicable)
Swine exhibitors turn in the Hormel form at the scale
when hogs are ID’d (can pick one up tonight)
Poultry papers need to be given to county staff
Remember to enter Lamb Lead and Fleece Entries
Enter Dairy Production and Genetic Data
Dairy Showcase and Poultry Prince/Princess

– Meet with your Specie areas…
Feed and Watering Equipment, Bedding, Supplies, Show Boxes…etc
Herdsmanship expectations of Specie area
General:
– Oversized Projects meet to determine drop-off & pick-up if needed
– Bring in Projects to County Extension Office by August 5th
– Those Riding the Bus Up – You will receive your gate ticket from the chaperone
on the bus.
