Winter Wonderland at TPL
This year’s annual family Christmas program will be held on Monday, December 2 from
6:00 - 8:00 pm. Jingle John the Elf, a funologist from Silly Safaris, will share humor and
animals—including a reindeer—during two programs. The first program will begin at 6:15
and the second at 7:15 in the library meeting rooms with Christmas music preceding each
show.
Santa Claus will be available through the evening to hear Christmas wishes and sit for pho-
tos. Magician Marc Lehmann will astound visitors with magic to help pass the time as they
wait to see Santa.
Children will be able to choose a take-home ornament craft and a free book before the end of
the night. Refreshments will be available for children and their families.
This evening of family fun is open to the public and registration is not required. We hope to
see you all on December 2!
Thorntown Heritage Museum Open House
The Sugar Creek Historical Society received a generous donation for window coverings for
the museum to protect the collection from damaging UV rays.
Turns out they look great too! The museum is having an open
house on Sunday, December 8 from 2 - 4 to show them off. All are
welcome to stop by and enjoy music and appetizers, and check out
the history that the museum has to offer!
Holiday hours: The library will be closed on December 24th and 25th for Christmas.
We will close at 4:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and remain closed New Year’s Day.

Book Discussion
The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict has been selected for this month’s book
discussion. This novel explores the fascinating life of actress Hedy Lamarr. Born Hedwig
Kiesler in Vienna in November 1914, her beauty almost certainly saved her from the rising
Nazi Party and led to her first marriage with arms dealer Fritz Mandl. As her situation
became more dangerous, Hedy planned her escape - one that would lead her to Hollywood.
The group will meet on Monday, December 16 at 1:30 to discuss this bestselling work of his-
torical fiction. Copies are available at the Adult Circulation desk. Please join us!
Gourd Plans
The Sugar Creek Gourd Patch will meet from 6-
8:00 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 4, in the library meet-
ing room. Participants may decorate small bot-
tle gourds that have been base-painted by San-
dra Townsend, or work on other seasonal deco-
rations or their own projects. From 2-4 p.m. on
Wed., Dec. 18, the Thorn Tree Gourd Patch will
complete gourd Christmas gifts and seasonal
decorations. Both groups will be planning their
Make-It-Take-It craft project to be offered at
the May 1-2 state gourd show in Rochester, IN.
There will be no January 1 session, but on Jan.
15 from 2-4 p.m. painting of snowmen will be
featured. Call Karen at the library with any
questions and to be sure supplies are on hand.
Game Night January 2
Join us for another fun Game Night in library
meeting rooms on Thursday, January 2 from 4-
7 p.m. Snacks will be available, but players
