Tennis TipLooking at The Big Picture

Lately I have been observing match play and witnessing players getting passed by balls they should be covering. Often the cause of this action is because players are not anticipating the next shot off their opponent’s strings. I have a couple of simple solutions to use next time you are on the court!

When pulled wide in either singles or doubles focus on a quick recovery back to the center of the court. I see too many players watching their shot which results in a delayed reaction off their opponents contact – this causes a brief moment of lost time. Getting to balls early in advance is HUGE!

Be thinking the next ball that’s coming over the net is coming to me! With this thought process you will always be prepared, focused, and have a quicker game plan of where you want to hit the next shot. When I see players being caught late or unprepared with their contact point it often can be traced back to not thinking that next ball is not coming back over the net.

These two tips are going to make you a better player and enable you to play at a higher level during your next match. Try it, work with it, and use it! See you on the court!

Winter Renewal at the SpaWinter wreaks havoc on our skin, and whether you are dealing with dry, oily or scaly skin, a little TLC can work wonders. Body scrubs are great for exfoliating: they slough away dead skin cells and nourish the new skin beneath, leaving you soft and glowing all over. Below is a DIY scrub you can make at home, or pick up one of the lovely pre-made scrubs we offer in The Spa Boutique. Alternatively, leave it to the experts at The Spa at Pebble Beach and book an exfoliating 45 or 75 minute scrub such as the Papaya Pineapple Scrub, Sea Salt Body Scrub or the Red Flower Ritual.

Rise and Shine Scrub •1/4cupoliveoil •1teaspoonpurevanillaextract •1cupbrownturbinadosugar •15dropscitrusessentialoil(bergamot,neroli,grapefruitorlemongrass) •1/2cupusedcoffeegroundsfromafreshlybrewedpot

Blend all ingredients together, dampen skin, and massage the scrub all over your body, starting from your feet and working your way up. Be sure to pay special attention to rough spots like heels, knees, and the backs of your arms. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. As a reminder, Beach Club Members receive a 20% discount on services & at the Juice Bar and a 10% discount on Retailat the Spa.

Membership Update We are excited that the SYC has become very popular with The Beach & Ten-nis Club members. At the conclusion of last season we were thrilled to have 358 member families. We have a cap of 375 member families. Due to the popularity of SYC all renewals must be returned by April 29, 2016. For those members on the wait list we will begin contacting you on May 2, 2016 to add you to Stillwater Yacht Club. If you have questions please email [email protected] or call Terry Russey at (831) 521-7111.
