    Most retailers know when customers enter their store and can analyse their EPOS data to understand what they purchased. But between entrance and checkout, these customers enter a kind of Bermuda Triangle in which their movements and their interaction with the goods on display remain a mystery. Wipro gives retailers the customer visibility they need to make smarter, more informed decisions about everything from planogram optimisation to resource allocation.

    Gaining Insight on In-Store Behaviours Wipro’s Smart i-ConnectTM (WSIC) is an IOT management platform which is used in various Industries for realizing value of edge data. Today video data Is considered edge data. By partnering with Hitachi Vantara, Wipro has Integrated WSIC with Hitachi’s Lumada Video Insights to harness the power of video data. This combined edge video Intelligence Is extended to cloud for Integrating with retailer’s POS/ERP systems and apply analytics using using Pentaho technology, included in the Lumada portfolio.. The whole solution is deployed & managed by Wipro for retail customers. An example of outcome of this joint solution Is shown as below:

    Hitachi Vantara’s time-of-flight lidar motion sensors motion sensors work on the same principle as radar but use infrared light laser pulses to analyse 3D movement. They can identify customers’ height, shape, movement and actions, making it possible to measure and monitor shopper footfall and dwell time. And because of the sensitivity of the readings, there’s scope to track a person’s arm movement towards a specific location and see whether they pick up or put back an item.

    Combining the data collected by these lidar sensors with Wipro’s solution and the analytics capabilities of Pentaho technology enables customer behaviour to be analysed in real time while they are shopping in-store. Applying data model to this enables retailers to derive actionable insights that could enhance customer and brand experience. Retailers can also take advantage of facial recognition technologies to identify and address individuals known to be active in retail theft operations.
