for vendors developing products, services and information focused on the delivery of rich media content to an exploding number of mobile, wireless devices.

WMF is NOT a standards body - Works in partnership with standards bodies

WMF is a “Meta Forum”, looking to “head off” damaging market fragmentation which can be created by multiple technologies or standards

WMF Technical Working Group

Technical Working Group works on input from the Application Requirements Working Group.

Technical solutions for wireless multimedia typically need to include standards from multiple standards bodies e.g. IETF, MPEG, 3GPP2 etc

WMF technical publications reference standards and pull them together into a “framework”.

Makes use of existing standards. Where new functionality is required, work with appropriate

standards bodies.
