• Encryption and AuthenticationAll message is with HW AES-128 EncryptionAll Data Link Layer (DLL) messages are authenticated with CCM* with AES-128 in hardware.
• Keying ModelUsing 128-bit Join Key for authenticationIn IEEE802.15.4e networks, each communication node contains a 128-bit Join Key stored securely in non-volatile (NV) flash. The node authenticates itself to the network by sending a join request encrypted with this Join Key and Join Counter. And then, the wireless Gateway decrypts this message to confirm it was sent by a node possessing the correct key and with the expected joincounter. If authentication fails, the join request is dropped.
• Access Control ListUsing ACL for security management and controlAccess Control Lists (whitelists, blacklists) provide an additional layer of control to ensure that un-wanted devices cannot disrupt a network.
• Key managementThe key generation is by a large random seedKey generation is based upon NIST specificationSP800-90. CTR-DRBG samples thermal noise and an XOR function to generate a large random seed.
