DO NOT QUARREL LIKE THIS. OTHERWISE, THE RIVER

While putting a supplementary Starred Question No. 402

“Functioning of Krishna River Management Board on 30.3.2017, Shri B.

Vinod Kumar asked whether the Government is going to refer the Krishna

Water Dispute to the Tribunal –II.

He further went on to ask “In the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh,

the people of Telangana fought for their due share of Krishna river”.

They have their own rivers called Pennar and Krishna which have its

own territorial jurisdiction where the water should be given. But because of

various pressures from other parts of the then Andhra Prdesh, water, which

was to be allocated to Telangana has not been allocated. So, this has to be

re-visited. The water of Krishna should be shared among Maharashtra,

Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. So, this should be referred once

again to the new Tribunal. (…Interruptions)

“Do not quarrel like this. Otherwise, the river may change its course”.

A BAD CASE OF INTAXICATION

While participating in the discussion on Taxation Laws

(Amendment) Bill on 6.4.2017, this is what Dr. Shashi Tharoor said

humorously:-

“Mr. Chairman, Sir, I love the concept of „sin taxes‟. The

Government puts a high tax on liquor and then imposes such high

taxes on everything else that they drive people to liquor. With

due apologies to the interpreters, we are all reeling from a bad

case of intaxication”.

On hearing this, there was laughter from all sides of the House.
