ZECHARIAH’S PROPHECY  – LIGHT

FOR ALL JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES

“  As for your fathers, where are they? And as for the prophets, wasit to time indefinite that they continued to live?” – Zechariah 1:5

Explorers of the Bible have always been

fascinated by prophecies. Such a prophecy is

the book of Zechariah, written in the 6th centu-

ry BCE. It is special because it is fulfilled right

before our eyes but does also foretell the near

future.

Right at the beginning, it points out whichgroup of people is its main topic. An angel says

regarding the protagonists: “These are the

ones whom Jehovah has sent forth to walk

about in the earth.” (Zechariah 1:10) They

confirm that and say: “ We have walked

about in the earth.” (Zechariah 1:11) Clear-

ly they are people who “walk about in the

earth” on behalf of Jehovah –   Jehovah‟s Wit-

nesses.

Public Ministry

Indeed, the public ministry is the major fea-

ture of Jehovah‟s Witnesses. (see 1998 Year-

book of Jehovah’s Witnesses, page 108) Zecha-

riah describes their proceeding: “Look! there

were four chariots … In the first chariot

there were red horses; and in the second

chariot, black horses. And in the third

chariot there were white horses; and in the

 fourth chariot, horses speckled, parti-

colored.” (Zechariah 6:1, 2)  Most Jehovah‟s

Witnesses drive into their territories by car;

though horse chariots are no more in use, the

power of car motors is still measured in “horse-

power.” In former times, people rode different-

colored horses; today they are driving different-

colored cars.

The publishers work in different territories

“ The chariot with black horses goes to

ward the north, the chariot with whit

horses goes toward the west, and the on

with spotted horses goes toward th

south.” (Zechariah 6:6, CEV) The prophe

fittingly describes the publishers driving ttheir assignments after the field service meet

ing.

One group though distinguishes itself: “A

for the parti-colored ones, they must g

forth and keep seeking where to go, in

order to walk about in the earth. … And

they began walking about in the earth.

(Zechariah 6:7) These publishers do not g

into the ministry only once a week; rather the

“keep seeking where to go.” Obviously they arthe pioneers and missionaries, for whom publi

ministry is a full-time job. Usually they hav

little money and have to drive old, botche

cars, reminding a bit of parti-colored horses.

Many people are still asleep when Jeho

vah‟s Witnesses ring their bell. The same hap

pened to Zechariah; he reports: “The … [per

son] who was speaking with me proceeded

to come back and wake me up, like a man

that is awakened from his sleep” (Zechariah 4:1) But not enough that he woke th

homeowner up, the publisher continues: “I wil

awaken your sons!” (Zechar iah 9:13) In

deed a fitting description of Jehovah‟s Witness

es who offer the magazine “Awake!” of al

things at these morning visits.

Organizational Structure

The hierarchical structure of Jehovah‟s

Witnesses is exactly depicted in the prophecy

too. First, Zechariah mentions the lowest level:

“Look! there were four horns” (Zechariah

1:18)  Sheep have two horns; hence the “four

horns” resemble two “other sheep.” (John10:16) They stand for the total number of Je-

hovah‟s Witnesses that are counted as part of

the “great crowd.” – Revelation 7:9.

The other group of Jehovah‟s Witnesses

which is superior to the “other sheep” is also

mentioned. Zechariah explains: “What do

these two olive trees on the right side of the

lampstand and on its left side mean? …

These are the two anointed ones.” (Zecha-

riah 4:11, 14)  The “anointed ones” who formthe “faithful and discreet slave” stand on the

right side and on the left side of “the

lampstand” –   the place where the “brighter

light” and the other “spiritual food” emerges.

 –  The Watchtower, March 1, 2004, page 10.

Why the anointed are likened to olive trees?

The prophet Joel “used olive oil in describing …

prosperity.” (The Watchtower, March 1, 1993,

page 24) Though many of the “anointed” are

seemingly poor, they are cherished by the “oth-

er sheep” and generously supported with dona-tions. But “olive trees” were also a major source

of fat in Israel; hence the verse indicates that

many anointed are overweight.

Besides the “other sheep” and the “anoint-

ed,” there is someone else playing a role in the

Watchtower organization. Zechariah reports

regarding the angel who showed him the vi-

sion: “He proceeded to show me Joshua the

high priest … and Satan standing at his

right hand.” ( Zechariah 3:1) In ancient

Israel, the priest was the mediator between

God and men; hence “Joshua the high priest”

represents the Governing Body who claims to

be the representative of the “faithful and dis-

creet slave” and “God‟s channel of communica-

tion.” In actual fact they are guided by Satan

the Devil, as Zechariah‟s prophecy clearly re-

veals.

Building of Kingdom Halls

The worldwide building activity of Jeho

vah‟s Witnesses has been foretold by Zecharia

too. He stated: “Furthermore, Jehovah

showed me four craftsmen.” (Zechariah

1:20) Since the Watchtower organization ha

no regard for its followers and continues building during bad weather, Zechariah said regard

ing the construction workers: “ They mus

become like mighty men stamping down in

the mire.” – Zechariah 10:5 .

Only God‟s spirit could enable Zechariah t

foresee even the working conditions at Jeho

vah‟s Witnesses‟ construction sites. He said, in

“those days there were no wages for man

kind made to exist … there was no such

thing.” (Zechariah 8:10) The workers reallget no wages, though the Kingdom Halls be

long to the Watchtower Society or one of it

corporations when they are completed.

Since responsibility is usually delegated ac

cording to “spirit-mindedness” or gender, bu

not according to skills, quarrels at the con

struction sites are bound to occur. Thus Zecha

riah adds: “To the one going out and to th

one coming in there was no peace.

 – Zechariah 8:10.

The anointed Joshua class works

closely with Satan (Zechariah 3:1)

There were no fluorescent tubes in Zechari-

ah‟s day; yet God‟s spirit made him prophesy

about the Kingdom Halls built by Jehovah‟s

Witnesses: “Its seven lamps are upon it,

even seven; and the lamps that are at the

top of it have seven pipes.” (Zechariah 4:2)

Indeed most Kingdom Halls are equipped with

fluorescent tubes which remind of “pipes.” Thenumber seven represents the total number of

lamps in the building.

Further Details

Zechariah foretold further details about the

Watchtower organization‟s methods. For ex-

ample, he explained: “ Look! the stone that I

have put before Joshua! Upon the one

stone there are seven eyes … These seven

are the eyes of Jehovah. They are roving

about in all the earth.” (Zechariah 3:9;4:10) Eyes are symbols of observation or sur-

veillance; hence the “seven eyes” mean that

Jehovah‟s professed organization monitors the

whole life of its followers. Of course they put

great emphasis on the commitment in public

service; in this regard they collect reports from

literally “all the earth.” –   The Watchtower,

June 15, 1990, page 29.

In present times, these reports are usually

no more sent by post but submitted through

the Internet. Thereby they are also transmitted

through copper cables, and Zechariah foretold

even that as he saw “copper mountains” near

the publishers. (Zechariah 6:1) More and

more, the Internet with its copper cables is also

used to distribute the magazines.

“Approved association with Jehovah‟s Wit-

nesses requires accepting … beliefs that are

unique to Jehovah‟s Witnesses.” (The Watch-

tower, April 1, 1986, page 31) One such teach-

ing that is “unique to Jehovah‟s Witnesses”was also predicted by Zechariah: “ In that day

Jehovah will prove to be one.” (Zechariah

14:9) People of former centuries considered

Jehovah a triune God, but Jehovah‟s Witnesses

believe that he is only “one.” As they don‟t

want to be linked with Jehovah‟s Witnesses,

most Christians stopped to use the name

“Jehovah.” Now, when people hear the name

“Jehovah” they do no more think about th

triune God of Christianity but about the non

triune God of Jehovah‟s Witnesses.

Exploiting followers

Zechariah tells us how members of the Gov

erning Body and other “anointed” announc

themselves when mixing with ordinary “othe

sheep” at conventions: “Look! Your king

himself comes to you. He is righteous, yes

saved; humble.” (Zechariah 9:9) In fact, th

“anointed” claim that they are “destined t

„rule as kings over the earth.‟” (The Watchtow

er, April 15, 1992, page 17) They also asser

that, contrary to the “other sheep,” they hav

already been “declared righteous” and thus ar

quasi “saved.” (The Watchtower, January 15

2008, page 21) Finally they pretend bein

“humble” by calling themselves “slave” (thougthey actually act like a master).

Zechariah continues to say about th

“anointed” ones, they would be “riding upon

an ass, even upon … the son of a she -ass.

(Zechariah 9:9) In fact, most anointed ones

especially those in executive positions, tak

their ease in their Bethel homes, while the

have the asslike “other sheep” perform th

painstaking public ministry. Many of thes

„asses‟ did not become Jehovah‟s Witnesses a

adults, but their parents already belonged t

this organization  – thus they are, so to speak

„sons of she-asses.‟ Not for nothing, the Watch

tower Society wonders: “What would we d

without donkeys?” –   Awake! , December 2006

page 26.

The Watchtower Society observes its followers’ lives

throughout the world, especially their efforts in public ministry

Page 6: witchtower_06_2010

 The Witchtower 06/2010

The “donkeys” or “asses” –   the “other

sheep” –  also have financial losses. “The

wealth of all the nations round about will

certainly be gathered, gold and silver and

 garments in excessive abundance.” (Zech-

ariah 14:14) Indeed, the asslike publishers

donate money –  the modern “gold and silver” –

to the Watchtower Society; its publications

particularly mention “the generous gifts of

Jehovah‟s witnesses around the world.” –  1970

Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, page 48.

But Jehovah‟s Witnesses have other ex-

penses besides donations. In fact, all of Jeho-

vah‟s Witnesses have “garments in excessive

abundance” in their wardrobes, so that “at all

meetings”, they can “be neatly and appropri-

ately dressed.” (The Watchtower, June 1, 1989,

page 20) The Australian writer Jan Groenveld

said: “You are likely a Jehovah‟s Witness if you

earn your living by window cleaning and yet

have five suits hanging in your wardrobe.”

Another writer said that the demand of a fe-

male Jehovah‟s Witness to express her belong-

ing to God‟s “chosen people” through her

clothes can “even dwindle into stress and rival-

ry.” –   Die Kleiderordnung der Zeugen Jehovas.

Sometimes this situation leads to bizarre

sights. Zechariah prophesied about a Jehovah‟s

Witness: “He happened to be clothed in

befouled garments.” (Zechariah 3:3) In-

deed, in many congregations some publishers

formally observe the dress code  – that is, men

were ties, women skirts or dresses  –  but they

do not notice that their garments are dirty or

damaged, don‟t fit or don‟t match in terms of

color. The elders add to this behavior by accept-

ing every brother as long as he wears a tie

(regardless of how dirty or messy his clothing isotherwise), but trouncing every sister wearing

a pantsuit (regardless of how neat it is).

Not all followers of the Watchtower Society

may donate money to it, but the dress code and

related expenses have effect on “all Witnesses

of Jehovah.” (The Watchtower, November 15,

1989, page 14) Zechariah calls the abnormal

striving after “well-arranged dress” a “scourge

and states: “The scourge of the horse, th

mule, the camel, and the male ass … wil

prove to be, like this scourge.” (Zechariah

14:15)  It really befalls all publishers who can

be called „horses, mules, camels and asses

according to their character.

Water of Life?

Now Zechariah explains the impact of th

Watchtower Society‟s scribblings on the people

“It will not be day, neither will it be night

and it must occur that at evening time i

will become light. And it must occur in

that day that living waters will go forth

from Jerusalem, half of them to the east

ern sea and half of them to the western

sea. In summer and in winter it will oc

cur.” – Zechariah 14:7, 8.

Here Zechariah likens the so-called “wate

of life” which is distributed by Jehovah‟s Wit

nesses with the literal „living water‟ or “wate

of life.” This term is usually applied to Vodka

and “in summer and in winter” large amount

of Vodka are exported from Russia “to the east

ern sea … and to the western sea,” that is, in

all directions. A part of Russia is north of th

Arctic Circle where it “will not be day” in win

ter, but in summer it will not be “night” but “a

evening time it will become light.”

Jehovah’s Witnesses are dependent on asslike worshippers

Page 7: witchtower_06_2010

In a transferred sense, spiritual Vodka is

exported from Brooklyn, the antitypical “Jeru-

salem,” to the entire world. The publications of

the Watchtower Society make its readers spir-

itually drunk; this spiritual alcohol “deadens

the senses so that one‟s judgment is impaired,

and one loses control of one‟s mind.” (The

Watchtower, August 1, 1975, page 468) Who

consumes too much of it might eventually ac-

cept a “Bible Study” with Jehovah‟s Witnesses

and hence be befallen by the “scourge.”

 – Zechariah 14:15.

Zechariah confirms this idea; he saw “a fl y-

ing scroll” and explained: “This is the curse

that is going forth over the surface of all

the earth.” (Zechariah 5:3)  Like „flying

scrolls‟, new Watchtower issues spread with

lightning speed “over the surface of all the

earth” and become a “curse” for everyone be-

lieving in their content.

Wickedness

In another vision Zechariah saw an addi-

tional feature of Jehovah‟s Witnesses. He re-

ports: “It is a basket … the heavy lead cover

was lifted off the basket, and there was a

woman sitting inside it.” (Zechariah 5:6, 7,

NLT) Who is this mysterious woman in the

basket? An angel explained: “This is their

aspect in all the earth … This is Wicked-

ness.” – Zechariah 5:6, 8.

From Brooklyn, the antitypical Jerusalem, spiritual Vodka is

sent to all the earth in order to cloud the people’s mind

Like all faithful worshippers of God, Jehovah’s

Witnesses picture wickedness as a woman

Why is “wickedness” depicted as a “wom

an?” Throughout history, God‟s worshipper

considered women to be the source of evil. Th

 Apocrypha say: “From  garments cometh

moth, and from women wickedness. Bette

is the churlishness of a man than a cour

teous woman.” (Ecclesiasticus 42:13, 14

KJV) Centuries later Pope Pius II wrote

“When you see a woman, consider it the devil

She is a kind of hell!”

Jehovah‟s Witnesses also hold the view tha

wickedness basically emanates from women

For example, they wrote: “The congregation i

Thyatira was tolerating idolatry, false teach

ing, and sexual immorality. In their midst wa

„that woman Jezebel‟ –  perhaps a group o

women with traits like those of wicked Queen

Jezebel … Let no self-appointed prophetes

seek to manipulate others in the present-da

Christian congregation!” (The Watchtower, Ma

15, 2003, page 18) On another occasion the

advised women: “Godly women avoid being lik

Jezebel or any of her kind.” –  The Watchtower

September 15, 1997, page 18.

Page 8: witchtower_06_2010

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/witchtower062010 8/16

 The Witchtower 06/2010

Everyone who spent some time with Jeho-

vah‟s Witnesses knows that “wickedness” is

abounding in their congregations. Of course

this is not only due to women  – but the Watch-

tower literature is written or at least checked

by men. That‟s why their magazines continue

to picture women as the origin of evil: “Chris-

tian women were to be in subjection to theirhusbands … They were also to respect the

elders appointed within the congregation, all of

whom were men … Christian women were to

leave public teaching in the congregation to

such appointed „older men‟ and refrain from

publicly contradicting such teachers …  Any

improper feminine influence within a congre-

gation would incur Christ‟s unfavorable judg-

ment.” –   The Watchtower, September 1, 1986,

page 16.

Zechariah prophesied regarding the “king”,the “anointed” managerial elite of Jehovah‟s

Witnesses: “He will actually speak peace to

the nations; and his rulership will be from

sea to sea and from the River to the ends of

the earth.” (Zechariah 9:10) Granted, Jeho-

vah‟s Witnesses “speak peace to the nations” –

they keep talking of a “peaceful new world.”

(Life in a Peaceful New World, cover page) But

in actual fact they are ruling “from sea to sea,”

and “the wicked are … the sea.” (Isaiah 57:20)

Hence they are ruling over “the wicked” in

their congregations.

The “rulership” of the Governing Body is al-

so “from the River to the ends of the earth” –

what does that mean? The “River” is without

doubt the Euphrates in Babylonia, which

proves that the Watchtower Society is part of

“Babylon the Great.” (Revelation 14:8) Joseph

F. Rutherford, a famous judge, pointed out who

is behind this “River” when he said: “Satan the

Devil, represented by the great Dragon … said:

„My river is mine own, and I have made it for

myself.‟” –  Light, volume I, page 291.

The Watchtower Society‟s rule reaches

“to the ends of the earth,” and the Bible says:

“The whole world is lying in the power of the

wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) Hence the “faithful

and discreet slave” himself is “the wicked one,”

collaborating with Satan and ruling over a

nation of wicked ones.

Would there ever be an end to wickednes

in the congregation? Zechariah “saw tw

women flying … gliding on the wind …

They picked up the basket and flew into

the sky. „Where are they taking the basket?

… „To the land of Babylonia, where they

will build a temple for the basket. And

when the temple is ready, they will set thbasket there on its pedestal.‟” (Zechariah

5:9-11, NLT)  Hence “wickedness” would no

cease, but even an own temple for it would b

established in “Babylonia” – the dwelling plac

of “Babylon the Great.” Indeed, all false rel

gions –  including Jehovah‟s Witnesses – woul

excel in yielding wickedness.

The Condition Exposed

The Watchtower organization‟s poor spiritual condition doesn‟t remain concealed. Go

says: “I will send your prisoners out of th

pit in which there is no water … you pris

oners of the hope.” (Zechariah 9:11, 12

Jehovah‟s Witnesses are indeed “prisoners o

the hope” for a new world that never comes

But since so far all of the Watchtower Society‟

predictions have failed to fulfill, some Jeho

vah‟s Witnesses become “disillusioned or tire

of waiting for Armageddon.” (The Watchtower

January 1, 1998, page 9) They realize that th

“other sheep” (which they belong to) are

“flock meant for the killing,”  that is, the

will die before Armageddon “although the

are not held guilty.” – Zechariah 11:4, 5 .

More and more Jehovah’s Witnesses run

out of steam “waiting for Armageddon”

Page 9: witchtower_06_2010

Individuals understand that in a spiritual

sense “there is no water” in the Watchtower but

Vodka, making its readers drunk. (Zechariah

14:7) Through Zechariah, God tells them:

“Run! ... Hey there! Hey there! Flee, then,

you people! ... Make your escape, you who

are dwelling with the daughter of Babylon!

... Keep silence.” (Zechariah 2:4, 6, 7, 13) By

their unbiblical doctrines as well as their col-

laboration with the United Nations and other

political organizations, Jehovah‟s Witnesses

made themselves a part of “Babylon the Great.”

(Revelation 14:8) Everyone who grasped that

should no longer be “dwelling with the daugh-

ter of Babylon” by remaining in the Watchtow-

er organization but rather „run, flee and es-

cape.‟ He should „keep silence‟ instead of preaching the “Good News” of the upcoming

annihilation.

Zechariah then encourages such persons:

“The fast of the fourth month, and the fast

of the fifth month, and the fast of the sev-

enth month, and the fast of the tenth

month will become … an exultation and a

rejoicing and good festal seasons.” (Zech-

ariah 8:18) Of course this statement does not

refer to literal fasting; it rather encouragespeople to stop reading the Watchtower and

listening to the boring speeches at meetings

and conventions. Whoever starts spiritual fast-

ing will soon „rejoice‟ and realize what a burden

is gone from him!

More and more “other sheep” realize that

they are a “flock meant for the killing”

Are the former Jehovah’s Witnesses already in paradise?

Forefathers

Among those realizing the truth about th

“truth” are many children of Jehovah‟s Wit

nesses. Zechariah addresses them: “Jehovah

grew indignant at your fathers  – ver

much so … Do not become like your father

to whom the former prophets called, say

ing: „This is what Jehovah of armies ha

said …‟” (Zechariah 1:2, 4) Their father

listened to “the former prophets” –  the Watch

tower Society‟s writers who foretold Armaged

don for 1914 and 1975 as well as the resurrec

tion of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for 1925. Go

“grew indignant” at them because they allowesuch lying prophets to delude them and didn

notice at all that it was not “Jehovah of armies

who “has said” what the Watchtower printed.

Then the prophet hits the nail right on th

head, asking: “As for your fathers, wher

are they? And as for the prophets, was it to

time indefinite that they continued t

live?” (Zechariah 1:5) Indeed, where are th

earlier Bible Students and Jehovah‟s Witnesse

now? In the paradise that was established onearth in 1914, 1925, the 1940s, 1975, befor

1995, the 20th century? And “as for the proph

ets” – Charles Taze Russell, Joseph F. Ruther

ford, Nathan H. Knorr (and his ghostwriter F

W. Franz)  –  where are they today? Are the

ruling over mankind from heaven? Do peopl

at least still read their and cherish their books

Page 10: witchtower_06_2010

God urges children of Jehovah‟s Witnesses:

“Don't be like your parents!  … Leave!”

(Zechariah 1:3, MSG)  “Paul himself had

changed his religion … when he found that the

„traditions of his forefathers‟ were not in har-

mony with the Scriptures.” (The Watchtower,

October 1, 1970, page 581) Everyone who has

been raised as a Jehovah‟s Witness should do

the same.

 At another occasion, Zechariah reminds

again of the numerous false forecasts by the

Watchtower prophets: “The practicers of

divination, for their part, have visioned

falsehood, and valueless dreams are what

they keep speaking, and in vain they try to

comfort … Against the goatlike leaders I

shall hold an accounting.” – Zechariah

10:2, 3 .

Indeed, all the prophecies in the countless

publications of Jehovah‟s Witnesses –   “false-

hood and valueless dreams” they have proved

to be. “In vain” the elders “try to comfort” those

who are disappointed for that reason. But

Zechariah predicted regarding these: “They

will certainly depart.” (Zechariah 10:2)

Many are unsatisfied with the flimsy excuses

and leave the organization.

“The practicers of divination, for their part,

have visioned falsehood” (Zechariah 10:2)

Discussing with Elders

Some realize immediately that the Watch

tower organization is based on lies and leav

right away. Others though are only bothere

about individual issues and try to talk to th

elders about their doubts. Some of them rea

old Watchtower publications, such as the book

by Charles Taze Russell and Joseph F. Ruther

ford or the Golden Age. They are appalled b

the doctrine about the Great Pyramid, th

attitude towards war, the expectations for 192

or the medical advice that God‟s channel o

communication propagated at that time, an

say to the elders: “Don‟t you know the mes

sage which Jehovah proclaimed through

the former prophets?” – Zechariah 7:7

Luther .

Zechariah also predicted how the elder

would react to such questions: “The  prophet

will become ashamed, each one of his vi

sion when he prophesies … for the purpos

of deceiving. And he will certainly say, „

am no prophet.‟” (Zechariah 13:4, 5)  Th

same excuse, which is surely cited by the elder

in such a situation, does the “f aithful and dis

creet slave” use: “Today, Jehovah does no

inspire prophets as in the past; instead, he ha

commissioned a faithful slave class … How

important, therefore, that we have an obedien

attitude toward that „slave!‟” –  The Watchtow

er, October 1, 2002, page 17.

God jibes at the elders and instructs them

through Zechariah: “Take yet for yourself th

implements of a useless shepherd.” (Zech

ariah 11:15) As many elders do not have

strong inner conviction but are merely gooheelers, they are usually lacking argument

when discussing with doubters. Then the

consult “the implements of a useless shepherd,

likely their books and the Watchtower Society‟

letters which contain detailed instructions fo

all possible situations.

Page 11: witchtower_06_2010

 The Witchtower 06/2010 1

It could be though that the “implements of

a useless shepherd” refer to the threat which

many elders utter during such discussions.

They threaten the doubter with the spiritual

(and later literal) death by disfellowshipping if

he dares to talk to anyone about his doubts.

Indeed a “useless” sanction –  which loving

shepherd would kill one of his sheep or ban it

from the flock?

Now at the latest, many Jehovah‟s Wit-

nesses grasp that the Watchtower Society is a

false prophet and that they have wasted their

previous life to a lie. God foretold through

Zechariah: “In that day … I shall strike

every horse with bewilderment and its

rider with madness.” (Zechariah 12:4)

Indeed some are „bewildered‟ when they be-

come aware of the truth about the “truth.”

They don‟t really know what to do now. Others

go „mad‟ when they realize that they squan-

dered their whole life to a group of senile liars.

The End is near

Zechariah foretold: “There will no mor

prove to be a Canaanite in the house o

Jehovah.” (Zechariah 14:21) The name “Ca

naan” means “Merchant Land” or “Land of th

Tradesman”; hence the „Canaanites‟ are mer

chants, tradesmen and other educated people(Insight on the Scriptures, volume I, page 399

Soon they all will no more be “in the house o

Jehovah,” that is, the Kingdom Hall, but the

will have left the Watchtower Organization.

Before long, the Kingdom Halls will loo

like prophesied by Zechariah: “Very old peo

ple with walking sticks will … sit around.

(Zechariah 8:4, CEV) All young and smar

people will have disassociated themselves. Th

remaining elderly ones too may have realize

that they have been misled, but they don

want to start a new life. They prefer to b

lulled by the latest Armageddon forecasts week

after week until they pass away peacefully.

“Should you not obey the words that Jehovah called out by means of the former prophets?” (Zechariah 7:7)

Last Try

The Governing Body will get worried about

this development. The old geezers will refuse to

believe that their writing is on the wall, but

rather they will comfort each other: “It will yet

be that peoples and the inhabitants of

many cities will come … saying: „Let usearnestly go to soften the face of Jehovah

and to seek Jehovah.‟” (Zechariah 8:20, 21)

They will still believe in a large increase.

They will wonder what they did wrong, so

that the increase fails to appear. Finally they

will come across the following Bible verse: “It

will be in those days that ten men out of all

the languages of the nations will take hold,

yes, they will actually take hold of the skirt

of a man who is a Jew.” (Zechariah 8:23)

They have always applied this prophecy to

themselves: “[This] man who is a Jew … repre-

sents the remnant of spirit-anointed Christians”

 –  The Watchtower, February 15, 2009, page 27.

In one of their meetings, the scales will fall

from their eyes: How should the people “take

hold of the skirt of a man” who is a Jehovah‟s

Witness while they forbid men to wear skirts?

Immediately they will commission a Watchtower

article that introduces a new dress code based

on Zechariah 8:23. All brothers will have to wearskirts in public service, so that the homeowners

have occasion to fulfill the prophecy.

All young and smart people will leave the Kingdom Halls

When someone realizes that he wasted his lifeto a group of senile liars, he can go mad

“Then the End Will Come”

God foretold through Zechariah: “I shal

certainly gather all the nations agains

Jerusalem for the war; and the city wil

actually be captured and the houses b

pillaged, and the women themselves wil

be raped.” (Zechariah 14:2)  Indeed, “a

nations” will take action against the cult lead

ers from Brooklyn, the antitypical “Jerusalem

and their followers in the different countries

They will ban this organization; their “houses

 –  the Bethel homes, Kingdom Halls and othe

facilities –  will be “pillaged” and made availa

ble for charitable purposes.

How will “the women … be raped?” Not lit

erally. But “since the Bible puts abstainin

from blood on the same moral level as avoidin

fornication, to force blood on a Christian woul

be … rape.” (How Can Blood Save Your Life?

page 20) Zechariah‟s statement means that n

one will have to fear reprisals because he ac

cepts a blood transfusion.

The printing plants of Jehovah‟s Witnesse

will cease their activities too. “On that da

there will be no light.” (Zechariah 14:6

Page 13: witchtower_06_2010

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/witchtower062010 13/16

 The Witchtower 06/2010 1

NIV)  There won‟t be a writing department

making up “brighter light” anymore. Zechariah

also prophesied regarding God‟s executioner:

“The hoofs of the sheep he will tear off.”

(Zechariah 11:16)  The “hoofs of the sheep”

represent the shoes worn by the “other sheep”

in public service. But then, public service will

be no more.

Jehovah instructs his executioner: “Strike

the shepherd, and the sheep will be scat-

tered.” (Zechariah 13:7, NIV) Punishment

will come only over the “shepherd,” the leaders

of the Watchtower Society. The “[other] sheep

will be scattered” and take control of their own

lives. “In that day there will come to be a

well opened … to the inhabitants of Jer u-

salem for sin and for an abhorrent thing.”

(Zechariah 13:1) The former cult victims arenow free to organize their life by their own

standards. They even can do things that Jeho-

vah‟s Witnesses called “sin” or “an abhorrent

thing,” such as celebrating birthdays, reading

Lord of the Rings or buying a ticket from a

charity lottery.

What will become of “the spiritual estate

inhabited by God‟s [professed] people” after the

Watchtower organization‟s destruction? Zecha-

riah foretold: “The whole land will bechanged like the Arabah, from Geba to

 Rimmon.” (Zechariah 14:10) Mistakenly, the

words in this verse have been translated as

personal names; the correct rendering would

be: “The whole land will be changed into a

desert plain, from the hill to the pomegranate

tree.” (see Insight on the Scriptures) The fertile

“land” that had sustained the Watchtower

leaders with donations and conveniences for

more than hundred years will become “a desert

plain” with nothing for them.

Mourning

These remaining cult leaders will remem-

ber the profit that they are missing now, “and

they'll weep  – oh, how they'll weep! Deep

mourning as of a parent grieving the loss

of the firstborn child. The lamentation in

Jerusalem that day will be massive.

(Zechariah 12:10, MSG) Now they have t

earn their living by themselves, something tha

they hadn‟t done for decades.

The annihilation of Jehovah‟s Witnesse

will be permanent. Zechariah prophesied

“They will no more be remembered; andalso the prophets … I shall cause to pas

out of the land. And it must occur that in

case a man should prophesy anymore, hi

father and his mother … must also say t

him, „You will not live, because … you hav

spoken in the name of Jehovah.‟ And hi

father and his mother … must pierce him

through because of his prophesying.

 – Zechariah 13:2, 3 .

Indeed, whoever may try to revive thWatchtower religion will be put to death im

mediately. What splendid prospects!

Eventually brothers will wear skirts, so that the people can“take hold of the skirt of a man” who is a Jehovah’s Witness

DENTURES FOR OUT-OF-WEDLOCK CHILDREN

Awake! magazine said that “children in families disrupted by … out-of-wedlock birth do wors

than children in intact families on several measures of well-being … They are also likely to sta

poor.” (May 22, 2000 issue, page 14) Hence they usually can’t afford reasonable dentures.

Zechariah’s prophecy clearly shows that this situation will change soon. God will administer t

all out-of-wedlock children having tooth issues and promises: “An illegitimate son will actually

seat himself … and I will remove his bloodstained things from his mouth and his disgusting

things from between his teeth.” – Zechariah 9:6, 7 .

Not only will God remove the “disgusting things” such as dental calculus or caries “from be

tween his teeth;”  he will even instruct his servants: “You must take silver and gold and make

grand crown.” (Zechariah 6:11) Indeed, soon God will give “cleanness of teeth” to out-of-wedloc

children too. – Amos 4:6.

QUESTIONS FROM READERSWho forms the “generation” that “will by no means pass away” according to Matthew 24:34?

Over the years, God’s channel of communication has progressively revealed who is “this generation”:

It “means people alive in the year 1914”

( Awake!, October 22, 1984, page 7)

They are “a wicked and adulterous generation”

(The Watchtower , November 1, 1995, page 13)

  They are “anointed ones”

(The Watchtower , February 15, 2008, page 24)

  They knew F. W. Franz

(District Convention 2010)

Hence we can conclude: The “generation” that “will by no

means pass away” are the wicked and adulterous anoint-

ed Christians who were alive in the year 1914 and knew

F. W. Franz, the Society’s fabulist, personally. Some of

them will live to see the end of the Watchtower Society.

Some of the “wicked and adulterous” “anointed ones”

who were “alive in the year 1914” and knew F. W. Franz

will live to see the end of the Watchtower Society

Page 15: witchtower_06_2010

The world usually considers vacation as “the

best time of the year.” But for true Christians,

vacation is the best time to glorify Jehovah of

course. “ Vacation time may … provide an op-

portunity to have a fuller share in Kingdom

preaching,” said Our Kingdom Ministry in June

1984.

Should Christians go on vacation at all? The

Bible does not mention any worshipper of God

who went on vacation. The Bible mentions few

journeys of God‟s worshippers, but those were

undertaken to support true worship. (1 Samuel

20:6; Nehemiah 13:6) The first Christians too

travelled only for preaching. However, God‟s

word does not explicitly ban holiday trips.

Hence, every Christian must decide whether

he wants to go on vacation. But surely we want

to heed all instructions provided by the “faith-

ful and discreet slave” whom Jesus appointed

“over all his belongings”  – which we are part of.

That includes the instruction to “be sure to

include arrangements for attending meetings”

and “sharing in field service with the local con-

gregation.” –  Our Kingdom Ministry, July 1987,

page 3.

Destination and Duration: We can have ameaningful share in the meetings only in coun-

tries where our native language, English, is

spoken. Hence we should limit longer trips

English-speaking countries, such as the United

States, United Kingdom, Canada or Australia.

If we are planning to visit another country, we

should make sure not to miss any meetings in

our home congregation. If, for example, the

meetings take place Sunday and Friday, we

could go away Monday to Thursday.

At the Travel Agency: “ All of us are to be

Witnesses of Jehovah all day long, ready at

every opportunity to let our light shine.” (The

Watchtower, May 15, 1998, page 19) Hence we

can bear witness always and everywhere. Why

not start at the Travel Agency?

We can tell the agent about our wonderful

hope of a future where no one will need vaca-

tion trips anymore, since there will be the same

paradisiac landscape everywhere! We could als

mention that planes  –   an invention of Satan‟

system, polluting the earth – will be no more.

We must be well-prepared to bear witnesabroad. Make sure that you have the majo

literature (Bibles, Knowledge books, the variou

brochures) and the current monthly literatur

offer always with you in our own language, in

the language of the visited country and in th

languages of other tourists that might sta

there. Then you can make use of every occasion

to bear witness and maybe even establish

Bible Study.

Personal Study: Of course we must mak

sure not to miss out on our own spiritual needsSurely no true Christian wants to go on vaca

tion without his most important tools, includin

the Study Bible, the Insight books and the Con

cordance. The brochure Examining the Scrip

tures Daily and all Watchtower issues that th

comments are based on must not be missin

from the luggage.

When we travel for more than few days, i

would make sense to take the recent Watchtow

er volumes with us. Then, when unexpecte

questions arise  –   such as “Are Christians alowed to eat ice cream if the salesman washe

his hands in the Mosque before?” or “Can tru

Christians bath in the same ocean with apos

tates?” – we can investigate immediately to fin

a profound, Bible-based answer. It would als

be wise to always have a laptop with the lates

Watchtower Library handy, though that canno

replace the printed literature.

Reaching thieves with the Good News

Theft is daily fare in many holiday countries

Therefore, we should always put some tracts in

the local language into our purse. This way, w

can bear witness to pickpockets who are hard t

reach in the house-to-house ministry.

In the plane: If we travel by plane, we can

utilize the flight time for witnessing. We can

tell the other passengers that planes crash

much more often than birds, a fact that show

the superiority of Jehovah‟s creation.

Page 16: witchtower_06_2010

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/witchtower062010 16/16

 The Witchtower 06/2010 1

We can go from row to row and tell the peo-

ple about the wonderful resurrection hope! It

would be advisable to have an adequate supply

of the tract What Hope for Dead Loved Ones? in

various languages with us.

Seaside holiday: There are countless occa-

sions for witnessing at our destination. If wemake holiday at the water  –  at the sea, at a

lake or in the local open-air bath – we can make

the other guests aware of the fact that only the

“water of life” will bring real chilling and offer a

Bible Study. – Revelation 22:1.

We could also print Bible verses and Watch-

tower quotes onto our towels or rubber animals

and so bear witness of our hope. Others made it

a habit to write the daily text and the comment

into the sand at the beach every morning.

When we stay at the sea, instead of castles

we could build watchtowers in the sand. Tell

the other guests that you look forward to the

time when the prophecy that “the sea is no

more” will be fulfilled. (Revelation 21:1) We

should advise them insistently against the

“wild beast … with ten horns and seven heads”

that will soon be “ascending out of the sea.”

(Revelation 13:1) It would also be a good oppor-

tunity to occupy our lounger with older Watch-

tower and Awake! issues rather than towels.

It is however not appropriate to pick up

shells on the beach, for in some cultures these

are used as talismans. Especially at the Medi-

terranean Sea, we should think of the prophet

Jonah who was swallowed by this sea because

he refused to bear witness. – Jonah 1:15.

Lakes: Do you like to spend your vacation

at a lake? Let the other guests know that they

will soon be “hurled into the lake of fire” if they

refuse to study the Bible with you. – Revelation

20:14.

Restaurants: When we have dinner in a

hotel or restaurant, we should pray aloud to

Jehovah. We should ask him to help the other

guests to come to the truth before his judgment

is executed. We should thank him for giving

us knowledge that is hidden to all the other

guests.

If the hotel offers animation in the evenings

we could talk to the manager and suggest giv

ing a Bible-based talk instead. The guest

would surely be glad about this change. Yo

could even mention the time in your field ser

vice report.

Mountains: The Prophet Isaiah said: “How

comely upon the mountains are the feet of th

one bringing good news.” (Isaiah 52:7) We to

can preach the “good news” when we visit “th

mountains.”

We can tell other hikers that in paradise, n

one will be killed in an accident in the moun

tains anymore. When someone refuses to listen

we could quote the angel: “They [people lik

him] keep saying to the mountains and to th

rock-masses: „Fall over us and hide us from th

face of the One seated on the throne and from

the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day otheir wrath has come!‟” – Revelation 6:16, 17.

Make it clear that it will be too late then

We could also imitate Gideon‟s example b

„cutting down‟ the cross on the summit of

mountain and burning it with fire. (Judge

6:25-27) Also, when we spent our vacation in

the mountains, we should eat in the valle

below, since the Bible says about a faithfu

worshipper of Jehovah: “On the mountains h

did not eat.” – Ezekiel 18:6.

Other occasions: On other holiday dest

nations we can bear witness too. Our Kingdom

Ministry regularly discouraged publishers from

standing too close together during street wit

nessing  – why not perform this ministry in th

desert? In Mongolia, we could combine th

house-to-house ministry with extensive walks.

If we visit a country where the preachin

work is banned, we could call at the next polic

station and then do street witnessing. Tell th

policemen and the people that God will soon

eradicate all human governments. This way w

can imitate the example set by the first Chris

tians. – Acts 7:59; 14:19.

We surely want to spare no effort to glorif

Jehovah in connection with our vacation an

bear witness of our wonderful hope, so tha

even more people can join us in our spiritua

paradise!
