PRESCRIBING INFORMATIONCaution: Federal law (USA) restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician. Keep outofreach of children.Indications: Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation (TENS) devices are used for the symptomaticrelief and management of chronic (long-term) intractable pain and as an adjunctive treatment in themanagement of post surgical and post traumatic acute pain problems.Contraindications: TENS devices can affect the operation of demand type cardiac pacemakers. Inpatients wi th known myocardial disease or arrhythmias, TENS should be used only with consultationand evaluation by a physician. Do not use TENS on the eyelids. Do not place electrodes directly overthe carotid sinus nerves or arteries, and laryngeal or pharyngeal muscles. Do not apply TENS for un-diagnosed pain syndromes until etiology is established. Any electrode placement that causes current toflow transcerebrally (through the head) is not allowed.Warnings: This device should be used only under the continued supervision of a physician. TENS isineffective for pain of central origin. TENS is of no curative value; it is a symptomatic treatment whichsuppresses pain sensation which would otherwise serve as a protective mechanism on the outcome ofthe clinical process. Safety of TENS devices for use during pregnancy or delivery has not been estab-lished. For external use only. Electronic equipment such as EKG monitors and EKG alarms may notoperate properly when TENS is in use.Precautions: Avoid adjusting controls while operating machinery or vehicles. Turn the s t imulator offbefore applying or removing electrodes. Long term st imulat ion at the same electrode site may causeskin irr i tat ion. If TENS therapy becomes ineffective or unpleasant, stimulation should be discontinueduntil its use is revaluated by the physician or therapist. Use only for the specific pain problem prescr-ibed by physician. Effectiveness is dependent upon patient selection.Turn device to OFF position when changing battery.Adverse Reactions: Possible allergic reaction to tape or gel. Possible skin irritation or electrode burnunder electrode. If skin irritation persists, discontinue use and consult a physician.

11N1KUUUU11U1N:What is Pain: Pain warns our body of in ju ry . This warning system and is intended to prevent addi-t i o n a l damage. The sensation of pain is impor tant , because wi thout i t , v i t a l parts of our bodies mightbe injured wi thout our knowledge. However, long lasting, persistent pain, often called chronic pain, once diagnosed serves no apparent purpose. TENS is developed to help relieve certain types of chronicand acute pain. How Docs TENS Work? TENS or Transcutaneous Electric Nerve S t imula t ion , refers to the transmis-sion of small electrical pulses through the skin to the underlying peripheral nerves. The theory ofTENS suggests two di f ferent modes or operation.Conventional (high frequency) TENS, is based on the theory that continuous mild electrical activitymay block the pain signal traveling to the brain. If the pain signal does not get through to the bra in ,the pa in is not "felt ." The second way TENS is t hough t to work is by s t imu la t ing the body's ownnatural pa in -con t ro l mechanism. "Low frequency" or short burs ts of electrical ac t iv i ty may causethe body to release its own pain relieving substances, called endorphins. Ask your physician or therapistlor more details. No matter what pain theory is used. TENS has been proven useful in pain manage-ment for many pain patients.

14. Using Burst Mode. When operating in Burst mode your TENSproduces a series of seven quick pulses followed by a rest. The cycle repeats itself twice every second. Before switchingto Burs t , turn ampl i tude controls for channels 1 and 2 "0"(off). Choose "B" (burst mode) with the mode selector switch.Slowly adjust the a m p l i t u d e and pulse width controls to these t t ing recommended by your medical professional.Note: In burst mode, the pulse f requency is fixed; adjus t ingthe pulse frequency control has no affect.

15. Using Modulation Mode. When operating in Modula t ionMode, your TENS Neurostimulator automatically varies theampl i tude of the pulse every four seconds. To use Modula-t ion, first adjust the amplitude controls for channels 1 and2 to "0" (off). Set the mode selector switch to "M" (modula-t i o n ) posi t ion. Slowly adjust channe l 1 and/or channel 2ampl i tude , pulse frequency and pulse width controls to thesettings recommended by your medical professional.
