Adding HyperlinksYou can easily add internet hyperlinks to any website, add an email address, or link to any document in your locker. There are several School Loop Elements that support adding hyperlinks:
- Directly within your Locker
- In a Calendar entry
- In a Note or a Blog
- In a News item
- In an Assignment entry
- Using a Text Box
or
Adding Video to Your Website *There are three main ways to add video to your website:
Internet video such as Youtube and Schooltube may be easily added to many elements that display the Add Video icon. This is the easiest method to add video to your website.
Video files that you may have on a PC or Mac, or that are not hosted as internet video may be uploaded as a Flash-based video. This method is more difficult, but enables you to use video that is playable through our school filter.
* Discuss with your administrator about policies for adding video.
Upload your video as a resource to your Locker. Visitors can then download the file.
Adding Flash VideoVideos must be in an Adobe Flash format (.swf or .flv) in order to be uploaded as a Flash element. If you have a video that is not in a Flash format, you may be able to convert it to Flash by using one of several free video converters.
As of January 2014, I have had success with the free software program “Any Video Converter” on my personal laptop. Care should be taken when downloading any software off of the web (like download.com) so as not to install any additional adware, junkware or malware during the install process along with your free software program. This is always done at your own risk, so please be very careful.
.mp4.mpg
.wmv.avi.mov Convert .flv or .swf
Adding Flash VideoOn your webpage, click the + sign where you want to place the video, and select the Flash element button.
Name and upload your video. Smaller sizes seem to play better, but up to 100mb is supported.
Depending on which column you place your video, it may be necessary to adjust the Flash video “container’s” width and height to accommodate the size of your video. This should match up fairly closely with the width and height you selected in your conversion program’s settings. For Flash videos embeded in the center column, I have had luck with a School Loop container setting of 460X280 – especially for iPad iMovie videos.
Adding Twitter and Google Apps
Twitter feed on your webpage!
- Use Google Calendar instead of the School Loop calendar – it automatically updates.
- Insert Google Docs and Google Forms right into your webpage.
Your school’s webmaster can install the custom HTML code onto your webpage.
